I’ve PM’d Hazell. God did pop into my thinking early but he’s one of those in that in between period - played with plenty of players who played under the King in his two spells with the club, both in the early 90s and mid 00s but never played for the King!

FFS that is unbelievably tasty. Missing out on Barnes has really given me some formation quandaries with my side. So far I'm going:

Souness was the big one for me, it's before my time so one of the first things I checked was whether he made the move to Samp in 84 or 85. What's nuts is how little change there is really from Dalglish's first Liverpool squad to his last one (during the first tenure) and how there's at best 4 players across his other jobs that might get a look in for a draft team. It's pretty likely to be all Liverpool players for me.

The lack of options for Kenny are definitely lessened by pretty much being able to add Stevie and Luisito to 'that' Liverpool team. Barnes definitely a loss......but hard to see how you wouldnt have been pretty lopsided with Kenny, Luis, Rushy and Digger all in a front four with Stevie in CM.

Still going to be very strong so interested to see what he ends up with compared to others. Without researching, which teams have been saving strong picks and which teams will be left with little to choose from.

Lots of hindsight with this draft! I think this one is almost a prototype for more of it's kind.

I think the best cases are where managers have lots of different pools to pull from AND more than a couple of rivals for their players. As an example, maybe we could have had Paisely in this to rival Dalglish's picks with them both paired to another journeyman type manager to increase their pools. Keegan might have been a good one.

Yep, Trapattoni is up there with the best managers available IMO.
