This is my first thread here.

There has been a couple of occasions this season when the crowd has chanted for Kenny. Be it they want a change in the attitude, a change in manager, or even, King Kenny to take over, his name has been sung nevertheless.

I am a thousand miles away, but share the pain regardless. I am 45, has watched redmen since early 1970 as an epitomy for everything that can is great about football: the holy trinity of the club and its manager, of the players, and of the fans and the community around it. This holy trinity is non-existent at the moment. The past years have hurt us in more ways I ever thought possible.

Yesterday, apparently, some of the traveling fans sung for Kenny. I was not there. If I would have been there, I would have joined in. At the moment the only thing I can do is sing his name on this message board.

Here it goes. If I am silenced, or abused as apparently the traveling fans yesterday were, then so be it. But I cannot be silent anymore. This is breaking my heart. There is no light at the end of this tunnel. You think you have seen the worse, and the it is only gets even worse than what it was before.

It has been said Kenny has been out of touch with being a manager for too long. I do not care, I do not believe it matters.

Would he put a more positive system in place? I believe he would.

Would he go after a result from each game? I believe he would.

Would he have the respect of all our players? I believe he would.

Would any of our senior players think they are bigger than him? I do not believe anyone would.

Would he get better results? I believe he would.

Even when not, would the overall morale be better? I believe it would.

Would he be given time and patience until the end of season no matter what? I believe he would.

Would anyone question a move that would appoint him as a new manager, effective immediately? I believe no one would do that.

Would he have the respect of the fan base, uniting us once again? I believe he would.

Would he be able to bring the holy trinity towards each others again. I believe he would.

Would even the press hold him in high regard, and give him time before the regular sh*t storm would make the headlines? I believe they would.

Should we start to sing his name, louder, ever louder? I believe we should.

I for one would give him the job now until the end of the season and if he gets us back into the CL and still wants the job then let him keep it...

Unite the fans for sure...
Respect from the playing squad for sure...
Play a more attractive & attacking brand of football for sure...

All in all Kenny is a much safer bet then what we currently have IMO

He'd get battered by a generation or two of so called supporters who apparently know everything yet know fuck all that would expect him to deliver the world.

It would drive me nuts trying to gag the lot of them when booing a 0-0 draw away to Fulham or whoever.

Depends who is available. If there is no-one available of sufficient calibre then King Kenny till the end of the season. Not the best scenario but alot better than what we have.

Dalglish wont be the perfect cure for all many think he will be.

But I'll tel you what.....he'll at least do the job Hodgson was supposed to do e.g. "steadying the ship" that is for sure. And with this regard I personally only see him as caretaker manager till the end of the season.

Dalglish has more in his managerial locker than Roy will ever have - even if he managed till he was 150 yrs old.

Compare the two CV's and there is no argument.

First thing he'd do is walk into the changing room and put them in their place! Jamie seems to think he is bigger than the club atm, Kenny would put an end to that straight away.

IMO yes without a doubt, but only if HE thought it would benificial to the team.

Kenny wont pander to any dressing room personality. There is nothing in his character or previous managerial experience that suggests he pander to anyone, players, other managers and media included.

You could rest assured any decison he made would be in the best interests of the club.

We'd have a part to play too though. We'd  (as in the fans) would have to back him to the hilt and let him get on with it regardless of whether we agreed or not. The problem is Im not sure our new generation of support could keep to the deal though.

As a caretaker for a few games he is the obvious choice. But with Rijkaard currently available it would be pointless.

The thing is, even the few fans that actually put up a case for Hodgson realise that he is not up for the job in the long-term. But what exactly are we waiting for? OK, things weren't exactly ideal for him when he first arrived at the club, but ANY manager worth their salt would have this side playing better football than we do at the moment. One bloke in the pub yesterday said, "I'd defy Wenger, Ferguson or Ancelotti to do better with this squad" and I sat there thinking we've got Reina, Carragher, Skrtel, Kuyt, Lucas, Gerrard and Torres - all players that played in the mauling of United at Old Trafford a few years ago, so I think any manager worth their salt is going to at least have us above Stoke fucking City after thirteen games.

The league is tight and everybody is struggling, but even sides lying in the relegation zone now have shown twice the promise we have. In thirteen Premier League games, we have played well against Arsenal in one half, Man United for ten minutes, Chelsea for one half and Blackburn for about 70 minutes. Is this the work of a man who has reinvigorated the squad? So we're here now in a league table as tight as it has been for years with a man without the cojones to get the most of it. We beat Chelsea last week and have followed it up with two of the most abject performances I've seen for a long, long time. But Champions League qualification is still there for the taking. Can NESV really afford to snub the opportunity of bringing in a man mid-season that could speed up our development process by securing CL money?

You'll get that even if we brought in Mourinho, Hiddink, Rafa, Pellegrini or any other top class manger mate. There's always some muppet who doesnt get it, but at the end of the day, Kenny would bea much better option for theclub at the moment even if its just to come in and stablise the cub until we get someone else in the summer

You're right, but we really do need to steady the ship now, and get ANY Machiavellian element out of the club and start again. These type of c*nts CANNOT be allowed to get away with it any longer, they/he is the cancer now consuming the club

I agree with this. But as a short term appointment until the end of the season,  to buy the management team time to find the right appointment surely it would be a positive?

I doubt it. Kenny was a legend at Celtic too and they were on his back in weeks, not months. I had the privelege of watching Kenny's entire Liverpool career as player and manager, but that was before some of our players ( and many of our fans) were born. Football is about results.

NESV control the purse strings, Comolli the strategic football policy, do we really want a legend like Kenny sat in the dug-out a convenient figurehead for others at the mercy of a press waiting to chart his fall and a febrile fan base?

And that's it for me aswell. A poisoned chalice. I'd love nothing more than kenny to come in, boss it, and us to race up the table. But with the quality of our squad at the moment, he'd be up against it.

I genuinely don't think i could take some internet warrior fan circa 2005 slagging him off if he wasn't a success.

Kenny wouldn´t talk shite to the press though, that´s a fact. And he´d back the players to the hilt, unlike Hodgson.
Still rather have him on the board though.

If he stops the rot then yes.

The infrence from your post is he'll fail. Personally I believe he will improve things beyond Hodgson's attempt at managing the team. he wouldnt be the messhia miraculosly turining us into title contenders. But I do beleieve he would stem the flow of negativity surrounding the playing staff at the moment for a sufficeint period to enable the owners to find the right long term appointment.

Is there anyone better (In theory) to do this in the short term, without taking a huge gamble on someone like Rikyaard.

At this moment in time, he's the only figure to unite this club ...and his status, and experience BTW (this is NOT a Shearer we're dealing with here...)...demands that he is supported whatever.

You can make the ..."But what happens if he fails..." argument about anyone....Any new manager unrelated to this club in anyway would be absolutely destroyed before he got going the minute we lost a corner, nevermind a goal...

And this "not Kenny" response does disrespect the fact the actually, y'know what, he wasn't...and isn't a bad candidate for the job...ACTUALLY, FIND ME SOMEONE ELSE BETTER....
