He hast a hope of winning a league

Isn’t it something like 23 times this season this side have fallen behind? The attack gets a lot of stick and rightly so but let’s be honest our defence is equally poor. It’s just so easy for teams to score, we’ve been conceding huge chances and opposition attackers have been in glorious isolation in our box.. We’ve completely lost the ability to function in either box, the lads are already on the beach and if everyone is honest, the manager, the players and the fans, we’re all just waiting for the season to end. Was a great season up until the Utd cup game, God only knows why we imploded completely since then but alas it is what it is.
Yes, 23rd time I believe. It's completely unsustainable. It hands the opposition encouragement and initiative every time. I'm convinced it's a big reason for the collapse. Opposition realized they could let us have 70%+ of the ball and we'd struggle to do anything with it. They also saw that we were incredibly lazy in first halves and vulnerable, so they went for it from the off, putting us on the back foot and having to chase. You can only do this constant chasing so many times before it saps you energy mentally and physically.

This is why I say the collapse is entirely on us. We've not been done over by better sides. We've gone out of our way to show our opponents how to beat us, so they've naturally obliged. Today, in was surprised it took West Ham as long as it did to go one up. I didn't even bother watching today. The script is the same, game after game now. We've surrendered the initiative, and once you do that you're in trouble.

The season is over for me now. It's just about giving Jürgen a great farewell, taking a break, then focusing on supporting us next season with a fresh slate.

Why are people so sure of this? I know it's all doom and gloom right now, but Liverpool are still one of the best teams in Europe, and really just need a high class DM and one more good finisher. The new coach and reintroduction of Edwards et. al. could lead to lots of success. He is settled here, and so is his family.

There are only a couple of alternative clubs he could go to that are superior options and would take him.

Personally, I would not sell him, and would even wait till his contract runs out. I would use him closer to goal. That is, unless someone offers silly money for a 32-year-old, AND we get not one but two genuine finishers in as replacements.

Agreed. It'd need to be 100 million plus for him. Otherwise the transition period in finding his replacement will be painful to say the least.

Nunez, Diaz and Gakpo aren't reliable prolific goal-scorers and finding a replacement is going to be hard. Jota is clinical but he isn't magical.

Salah staying in my opinion guarantees a top 4 finish. That's worth more than 40-50 million and for a new manager to have his best attacker stripped of him but expected to better or emulate Klopp is just near impossible.

What's the problem if they perform?
I think she means that performance should supersede nationality or any other differentiating factor

Truly pissed off with the scheduling. I want to watch the Si v Jones match - reaching its conclusion. BBC and Eurosport are showing Higgins v Allan, but inexplicably, so are Discovery +. WTF?

BBC iplayer/website for Si vs Jones match

I maintain not signing a centre-back in January has cost us the league. Everything seemed to drain from the team after that back pass by Quansah at Barad-Dûr. We desperately need a centre back pair that can be relied upon to start at least 30 Premier League games together. You cannot win a league by chopping and changing the defence so much.
We had a clear cut opportunity seconds after to retake the lead LOL.

It's not young Jarrell Quansah's fault. We're an attacking team that doesn't mind conceding goals as we normally score enough but our attack went out of form in the run-in.

You don't seem to understand Klopp is the boss. Again you are talking like he is a weak manager not one of the greatest in football ever. He will fk any player who think he is bigger than club.

I am saying Klopp is the boss, and that he should not be shown up publicly like he was. If he was less of a man, he could have sat Salah back on the bench instead. But Klopp isn’t like that, and that’s why we have love him so much. Nor will he fuck Salah off, because the club now is effectively no longer his, and he needs to take the high road so not to create more problems for the club going forward.

So do you see what the problem is here? On the weekend Slot is going to be announced as the next manager Salah publicly challenged Klopp in public because he took exception to something he said. He feels defiant like a man wronged but yet one who now holds the cards. He stormed into the dressing room, left without answering the questions, while Klopp had to take the press conference, where he always praises individual players but never calls any players out. And now we have a player who is openly challenging his authority because he knows he no longer controls his future.

Now, should we be calling this type of behaviour out? If we as a fan base allow this type of behaviour to continue, I’m afraid in the future we will have no ground to step on as more incidences like this happen. At any club.

They don’t invert like we do, they play short passes.

I just cringe at that word now.

Teams tend to play in the identity of their manager and Jurgen has spent virtually every minute of his time here as an energetic and charismatic leader. The three occasions where performances dropped off a cliff were: early 2021 when his mother was on her death bed, the first half of 2022/23 where the squad were absolutely done in after the exertions of the previous season and finally this last 6 weeks where Jurgen looks completely shot to pieces. We’d all love him to stay but he needs the break, he must be absolutely exhausted and in the last few weeks his lack of energy seems to have transmitted to the players. I just hope they’ve got another decent home performance in them, ideally against Wolves, to see the great man off in style
