Interview with Adam in The Guardian. Some stuff about Liverpool:

"I have a fantastic respect for Liverpool the city, club and the fans, from the time I spent there," Adam says. "That respect will always be there. The fans were fantastic to me, the facilities we had and players I played alongside were amazing. It doesn't make any sense for me to be celebrating in front of those fans. I had an amazing time at Liverpool; I was delighted to score that goal but I still wanted to show some respect."

It follows, then, that Adam expresses no regrets whatsoever about his time as a Liverpool player. There is only a minimal one concerning his departure. "I went there and played with some of the best players in the country. You only have to look at how well Liverpool are doing – and Luis Suárez in particular – this season to see that. I experienced life at a massive club and enjoyed it. I learned from it as well, as a person and a player.

"The reaction to defeat is different, I hate getting beaten anyway but at big clubs it is a crisis. At Stoke, maybe there would be a tendency to just look towards the next game after losing but I enjoyed the pressure of having to win every single week and it's something we have tried to create here, too."

It is to Adam's credit that he left Liverpool, high wages and a potentially comfortable position of collecting them for little exertion, to take on the reality of mid-table or relegation struggles at Stoke. Others might have adopted a different approach.

"Playing at big clubs is what you want to do," he says. "In my case, it was just that I felt I had to be playing regularly. I could have stayed there and just seen what happened but I had a chat with [the manager] Brendan Rodgers and he told me I wasn't going to play as much as I wanted to. From there, it made sense for me to move. Maybe it was a year too early to leave, when you look at what Liverpool have done since, but it felt like the right choice at the time and hopefully that proves the case."

Sami sacked at Bayern Leverkusen.

He probably needed a good number two in Lewandowski.  Good luck and learn from your mistakes.

http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/apr/05/sami-hyypia-sacked-bayer-leverkusen-manager

Bayer Leverkusen have dismissed Sami Hyypia, a day after the club slumped to a 2-1 defeat against Hamburg SV that took their recent record to one win from the past nine league games.

"After a lot of thought and because of the ongoing crisis we reached the conclusion that a change at this point could help us turn things around urgently," the Leverkusen chief executive, Michael Schade, said.

The 40-year-old former Liverpool defender and Finland international, who took over at Leverkusen in 2012 is to be replaced until the end of the season by interim coach Sascha Lewandowski, with whom he had shared coaching duties in his first season in charge.

Lewandowski returned to the youth team set up at the start of the season, leaving Hyypia in sole charge. Leverkusen, who reached the Champions League knockout stage this season had again been strong contenders for a spot in Europe's premier club competition for the first half of the season.

The team have imploded since the winter break, and have dropped from second to fourth with five games remaining. They now risk losing that place as well with VfL Wolfsburg, playing Borussia Dortmund later on Saturday, a point behind in fifth.

"It was a very difficult decision because Sami did a great job the past two years," Leverkusen's sporting director, Rudi Völler, said. "The dramatic developments in the past few weeks, however, gave us no real choice than to part ways. We want and must try everything to rescue this season."

Former Liverpool Coach Mauricio Pellegrino will take charge at strugglers Catania in Serie A where he has been working with the youth team

David Amoo is Carlisles top scorer with around 12... Not bad considering he's been playing right wing all season.

Jonjo scored a nice goal from the center circle

Jay Spearing has "everything crossed" for Liverpool title

http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/27149119

Former Liverpool midfielder Jay Spearing believes the entire city would be lifted if the Reds end their 24-year wait to win the league title.

Brendan Rodgers' side are five points clear at the top of the Premier League.

Spearing, who made 55 appearances for his hometown club, left Anfield at the start of the season to join Bolton.

"Not just the fans, but the whole city would be on a high for a year. It's been a long time coming," the 25-year-old told BBC Radio Manchester.

"The club should have been in the Champions League year-in and year-out.

"They're now slowly getting back to where they belong, and if they can win the title along the way, that would be tremendous."

Victories over Chelsea, Crystal Palace and Newcastle in their final three games will see Liverpool crowned champions of England for the first time since 1990.

He added: "I've got everything crossed for them to go on and win the league. Every single one of them deserves it, especially [captain] Steven Gerrard."
“It's impossible,” said Pride.  “It's risky,” said Experience.  “It's pointless,” said Reason.

Much better than Rooney's similar one. Pure technique, so cleanly struck.

But the media will argue that Ronney's is much better because it was by Wayne Rooney of Manchester United rather then Jonjo Shelvey of Swansea City. And you can't really argue against that.  ::)

Still only 29 but he is shadow of a player he was when with us.

He played for some great clubs during his career - Valencia, Liverpool, Juventus & PSG. However, he only played his best football (and gave his best) for Liverpool (and a bit for Valencia).

To me, he looked like a good footballer with even greater potential who was only looking for next shiny thing. A year or two in his Liverpool career, that was Juve. When he was at Juve, that was PSG. It looked like he assumed people would know he was a great player, but that he didn't have to prove it. That does not work like that. So when things got a bit tough at one of his clubs, he just picked his things and went to the next. After a while, he runs out of top clubs to go - because no one wants him based on his performances in recent years, particularly considering his high wage demands.

Look what happened when he was released early this season. Instead of going to a club and show how good he was, all that he was interested was that his potential new club paid his high wages. So he turned down several offers from clubs where he could have revived his career. At least he saw some sense & joined Levante belatedly.

29 and nearly finished. That's a sad story for a player who was once regarded as one of the best midfield destroyers in the world.

Match of the Match performance from Jonjo Shelvey in Swansea's 4-1 win against Aston Villa. He even scored a wonder goal.

Scored a goal-of-the-season contender against Villa from 47 yards, provided 2 assists & his pass led to the penalty that side won.

Despite being only 21, he's an excellent midfielder when going forward. He does have some flaws (e.g. lack of concentration, his marking is average at best and he struggles when asked to play a short passing game). But when he is allowed to play his natural direct game, he is awesome. He has an excellent eye for defence splitting passes, he has a very good long range shot, his tackling is ferocious and he brings tremendous energy to the side. He is not as good when he is asked to sit back, but whenever he pushes forward, there is always a sense that he could create or score a goal.

He could be become one of the best attacking midfielders in a few years. The question is can he do that at Swansea. Laudrup and now Monk have kept the short-passing style, but Shelvey is not that comfortable there. Moreover, he is played further back than his best position (imo) - i.e. as one of 2 defensive midfielders whereas his best position could be as an attacking midfielder. Still he managed such a brillant performance against Villa despite playing as a DM, so who knows - he may well fulfill his potential at Swansea.
