Do you think we can still get 3million off Napoli for him? He's just not the type of player Kenny wants ;)

You are our Lucas, Liv-er-pools Lucas.
You turn the rival's, attacks away
And when you tackle, you get the ball clear
that's why we know, we'll win it, today

I'll admit to having given him abuse a lot in the the past. Fair play to him though he is a top player now

Criticism is acceptable but abuse? No excuse I'm afraid, unless the player is Diouf or Itandje.

He has been a top player for the best part of 3 seasons and many of us did not need Sky to nominate him MOTM to see that.

http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Liverpool-transfer-news-Lucas-is-being-lined-up-for-a-3m-move-to-Napoli-as-Reds-continue-to-track-Blackpool-star-Charlie-Adam-as-central-midfield-replacement-article717921.html

Incredible!

"Napoli head the queue for Liverpool midfielder Lucas, who has not yet been offered a new Anfield contract. The Brazilian international is closing in on the last 12 months of his current deal, and there have been no moves from within the club to extend. That suggests his days on Merseyside are numbered, with the club already preparing their transfer plans for the summer under new director of football Damien Comolli. The fact that talks have not even opened suggests it is now unlikely to happen, and Serie A side Napoli have taken note."

David Maddock, 28th March 2011.

Lucas signs new contract, reported 30th March 2011.

Even crazier to remember that Hodgson had him behind Poulsen at the start of last season and on the bench.

One tackle on Silva was rather good too. Can't remember which Man City player was on the ball, but Silva had just stepped away from his man  into a bit of space with noone around him. Before the pass was even considered, Lucas knew what was going to happen, and headed straight for Silva. Silva received the pass as expected, and before he even had the ball under control Lucas had knocked it away, giving him a painful nip on the leg in the process. Silva went down and sat on his arse for a while, looking aggrieved that this wasn't the kind of football he liked to play. I giggled.

Fair enough the form Parker has shown for Spurs so far has been terrific so he deserved credit but Felliani for the fee they paid and potential he is meant to have is a clumsy bag of wank.

Yep I agree.  Parker is a class act probably enjoying the peak of his form but I still think Lucas is better at this moment in time, and he's got his best years to come.  Anyway, I'll just focus on him.  He needs a song!

Where's leivapool, bet she enjoyed the match. ;)

I'm here, just catching up on reading this thread, and I must say it has been a very enjoyable experience :D

Had tickets for this so saw for myself  how good Lucas was today.  It's quite hard to articulate just how important he was.  As impressive as they are, the stats don't really sum up his dominance over a Man City midfield containing some highly rated players.  Lucas really was that good today.

One thing I did notice, something that has only recently started to show, is  how influential Lucas is in the organisation of the team in both attacking and defensive situations.  When we have corners etc, it is Lucas who makes sure all the opposition players are marked, and only if they are will he venture forward to get in to the penalty area.  And in defence he is constantly pointing and telling those around him where to go when he knows he will get dragged out of position, to ensure they cover him.  They don't always, but he knows where they should be.

The lad was brilliant today, it's hard to put in to words.  I thought Agger was also excellent.  As others have said, Agger, Lucas, Suarez, Gerrard, world class players, indespensible to the team.

Rossiter absolutely bossed it tonight. Really believe he'll end up playing more games this season than Lucas.

Henderson won't make it here. Sorry but he won't and won't

Lucas has got to be future captain. Class performance these last two weeks. Best defensive midfielder in England, perhaps Europe. Stick Scott Parker up your arse!
