RIP Jimmy Caan.
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain

Rollerball was the first film of his I ever saw. Late night regional ITV back in the late 80s, early 90s used to show a lot of 70s films. Loved it, the concept of the future and the game itself, just really struck a chord with me.

Although a smallish part he was good in A Bridge Too Far. Driving his mate to the field hospital and pulling a gun on the doctor to save him.

So many wrong choices for Caan, in both his career and personal life meant he never really hit the heights that an actor with his talents should have. A real shame because he deserved to be bracketed with the likes of De Niro & Pacino. A sad loss.

And yes, time to give Rollerball another viewing. Wasn't the future that it portrayed 2018 - or have I got that totally wrong? 2018 certainly seemed a long way off when I saw Rollerball at the Cinema when it came out in the 70s.

Thief is brilliant for anyone who hasn't seen it

Finally got to watch it this week. Brilliant.

I love Michael Mann's work and not having watched "Thief" felt similar to a die hard Liverpool fan proclaiming never to have seen the penno shootout in Istanbul.

Caan was brilliant as Frank and the best performance I've seen him give.
