In that case he’s def not the best scouser to have played for us during that time. Gerrard at his peak was by far that player and that’s no slight on TAA in saying he’s not (yet) that good.

I know he's not there yet but he will be when he hangs his boots up unless Curtis Jones usurps him.
So bloody what? If you watch football to be absolutely miserable then go watch cricket.

Not this again. Can we just stop with the comparisons to past and future Scouse players and just appreciate the kid for what he's doing in the here and now?

It now seems almost every other goal we score starts with a raking crossfield pass from Trent.

Does anyone know where one can source the average position map or the heat map? I swear in the match against Bournemouth I saw him play higher up than Hendo plenty of times, with Hendo sort of deputising at RB when we're attacking.

Was it similar last night? Missed the match and only caught the highlights. Couldn't make out from them.

That's how we play. It's why moving him into midfield is ridiculous as his role then changes from bombing forward and creating to sitting back and covering so someone not as good as him can create.

I've argued against him playing in midfield plenty of times - not because I don't think he can do it, but because our team is at it's best with him there right now - but presumably, if he did move, and we buy another right back, Alexander-Arnold would still being the main creative player, just in a different role/position. The new right back would most likely cover for him and not be as attacking himself. It would make no sense having Alexander-Arnold in midfield, a worse attacking right back and keep playing like we do now.

This is why the detractors to Klopp's often used 'Brexit' midfield three Milner/Hendo/Wij or Fab/Hendo/Wij need to realise just what they allow the full backs to do. Admittedly sometimes we need a more creative spark in midfield, particularly if the opposition play higher up and nullify Trent and robbo, however because most teams are content to hit us on the counter when our full backs are 80 yards up the pitch, the selfless running that Hendo and Gini in particular do is absolutely critical to our success as a unit.

We have roles more than positions. If Alexander-Arnold's position changed it wouldn't change his role, it would just be to maximise the role he currently has. Salah is our '9' whether he plays from the right in a nominal 4-3-3 or up top in a nominal 4-2-3-1.

I've watched the goal so many times but I just don't understand how he's seen that space and put the ball on a spot. Great sign of a team that plays with such cohesion that firmino understands where the ball is coming too. But the quality of trent is fucking unbelievable. What a player

When you are as good as Trent time stands still.

At that stage of a game 999 times out of 1000 you just whip the ball in and hope for the best. With players of the quality of Trent it is freeze frame time. The game pauses and they think like a chess grand master. They evaluate all the possible moves and their responses and then just make the killer move.

It was the same as the corner kick versus Barca. He evaluated all the possibilities before anyone else and then had the quality to execute what he had envisioned.

He plays chess too. I'm sure that helps with his decision-making on the pitch.

Would be surprised if he's not challenging for the Ballon d'Or after the next World Cup in 2022, esp. if LFC keep getting to CL finals and if England do well at the WC. Unfortunately Ballon d'Or and Fifa's Best are dependent on national team performance, not just club. Unless, of course, if you're Lionel Messi and your legend precedes you.

I’ve never seen a player as young as him strike a football with such technique and finesse.

He’s going to be one of the best ever if he keeps his head straight.

And he’s going to score a lot of goals before he’s very much older.

He is already better than Gary Neville was at his peak. To me, also arguably better than Dani Alves at his peak.

I think he is pushing toward Philip Lahm level and no doubt he will surpassed that as well.
