I can understand why they are closed.

I am going to write a very refrained post about how I feel about that terrible verdict and the whole 31 year travesty.

My heart goes out to the families, yet again they are denied justice.  The more I read about the two trials, the more my blood pressure rises.  It was basically State vs State.

There are some good people amongst the judiciary, and some not so good.

Justice shouldn't be dependant on who you or your friends are.

I think the political threads on here take a disproportionate amount of moderating and right now no one wants to put themselves through it.

I'm one of the more frequent contributers to those threads, but I'd be in favour in getting them locked until after the election closes.

It's a shame, because I've learned a lot from reading this section of the site in the 15+ years since I've been a member, and I imagine there's hundreds of lurkers like me out there, so it's had a real impact.

But it's got pretty toxic lately and I have a lot of sympathy with the mods if they're starting to think it's not worth the effort.

The daft thing is I think everyone wants basically different versions of the same thing and they're spending their time furiously agreeing with each other.

The reason said threads are busy is because of the impending election.  Closing them is akin to closing a pre match thread way in advance of the game until after the game is played.

Just watched the Andrew Marr interview with Johnson.   IMO Marr came across as an over scripted stooge,  Johnson was what he is. but the number of times there was an answer and the the question was repeated! Have some integrity.. probe... "tell me more about that" instead of spitting the dummy and moving on. Shocking.
