I think Ten hag might be my favourite post Ferguson manager yet. This story was just great

https://www.theguardian.com/football/article/2024/may/11/erik-ten-hag-claims-to-have-manchester-united-fans-backing-amid-struggles

'yous are all idiots'
'fam got my back'
'it was a collective failure... by the players'
That screams of total delusion.
He makes Hodgson look reasonable.

Would be easier to support the Gunners today if Lego head had a touchline ban.
Anyway - hope they beat United.

As far as tributes go I recorded my mate in town on Tuesday doing one hell of a tribute to Prince.

please explain the basis for this observation.

What needs explaining? I’ve lived through both periods and there’s zero doubting who the better manager is.

Rafa was a fantastic tactician, his work rate was almost unparalleled and that meticulous preparation shone in his sides. His man management abilities were well renowned as being non-existent. It made us a fantastic cup side but one title challenge in six seasons speaks for itself. Rafa might have been ruthless wielding the axe every summer, I’d argue it was also one of his greatest downfalls, the constant change and punts on average players meant we wasted an awful lot of money on bang average players whilst our rivals went quality over quantity. He also nearly sold his best signing and tried replacing him with Gareth Barry.

I know this thread has died a death in recent weeks, but am I correct in saying it is the first time that City have been top on their own all season now?
Oops. I missed the last update didn't I? Sorry

I'll get an update done after our match on Monday.  But yes, man city are top on this at the moment. First time all season (if you don't count round 34 as they played theirs at the same time as Arsenal played round 35).

Good luck to them today. Hopefully they can pip the cheats to the title.
my feelings too, but city look inevitable and think the gooners are going to bottle it today.

Bar the win against us, I'm glad they've ended the season on a good note, because they'll definitely keep hold of Dyche now. They'll almost certainly have a worse squad next season and the promoted sides will all be better IMO. I think it's pretty obvious now the worst times are yet to come. Worrying Times™.

I feel like we’ve been saying this for years though and they always pull it out the bag. They have one of the worst squads in the league and 2 points deductions and stayed up comfortably

Don’t think I’ve ever seen such discrepancy between jury/public vote as in the case of Croatia. Comfortable winner of public vote, not even top 5 for the jury.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poland_in_the_Eurovision_Song_Contest_2016

Poland 2016 is surely still the benchmark for this. They only received SEVEN points from the juries and were in 2nd last place when the public votes started. At that time they didn't read the votes out in reverse order of jury standings, but in ascending order of public points. Despite being so low, the wait for Poland's public points stretched out and they eventually got 222 points (3rd most from the public), catapulting them up the table to finish in 8th place overall.

If it had been done with the current system, Poland's points would have been announced second after Germany and they'd have shot above everybody except Australia, who had 300+ from the juries.
