Oh well, time to grab one off the merry go round.

Martin Jol likes this.

That's fucking absurd.

Hope karma does it's thing here.  I mean seriously, where do the board think West Brom should be for heavens sake?

They've been pretty poor, but also unlucky, so far this season.
This could destine them for the drop.

What the actual fuck? ???

Thought he was doing a decent job maybe a bit of a slow start so far this season but think they are bang out of order sacking him.

They've missed the boat a bit I reckon. If they would have waited another couple of weeks, they could have appointed a true winner in David Moyes.

Ian Dennis from the BBC saying on twitter that Steve Clarke has been sacked.  Very very odd, if that's true.

Not really. Hovering around the relegation zone, lost three games in a week and Clarke let them all go on the piss in Ireland.

They have played okay at times and it is pretty harsh to sack a manager for essentially performing like a mid table team when the owners really didn't back him in transfer window until a couple of deadline day pick ups. Still think he would have guided them to safety easily

Theyve won 4 of their last 25 league games, I know he's hugely popular on here but dont think it's that bad a decision. Any owner is going to be getting nervy when you look like you're in a relegation scrap at Christmas.

Ah the famous phrase that is 'gardening leave' resurfaces.

Love the unintentional pun in the statement  ;D

Quote
West Brom have confirmed Steve Clarke has been "relieved of his duties" and placed on gardening leave following Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Cardiff.

Club director Richard Garlick said: “We have reluctantly come to the decision to relieve Steve of his duties after very careful consideration.

“It has been well documented that we have not had the rub of the green in certain games this season but that does not cloud the generally disappointing points return during this calendar year, culminating in today’s fourth-successive defeat at Cardiff.

Starting Anichebe ahead of Long was perplexing. Also hasn't that Argentinian lad in midfield been on the bench?

Off to trim the hedges for a few weeks ?

No if IIRC, it means you are still on the payroll, but not allowed to work anymore. Usually done to avoid leaving for a competitor.

Basically means he's not to turn up and is to sit on his arse until West Brom sort out a severance package.

Club's own fault for not getting Lukaku on loan again for this season.

Steve'll get a good job elsewhere.

The strange thing is that West Brom have got decent results from playing the likes of Arsenal, Man Utd and Chelsea, yet have struggled against the lower sides.

Would anyone take Steve Clarke back into our backroom staff ?

Yeah, that's brilliant just before they play Everton as well. Might as well just hand them the 3 points. IDIOTS.

Hope they go down now.

Definitely, he'd help sort out our defensive woes.

IMO Mourinho will get him in if he's up for it

What an absolutely pathetic decision from WBA's board. A few bad results go against all he's done for the club? When he joined them they was relegation fighters, he turned them into a very decent midtable club and this is how they treat him? I hope they get relegated

My mate is a season ticket holder at The Hawthorns and we went the first game of last season when we lost 3-0. Spent the next month or so ignoring all the texts and sly comments in the office.

So yes I maybe a big smug tonight as this decision could see them relegated.  ;D

The way people are going on about it here you would think he had them in the top four.

Similar uproar when Adkins got legged and that turned out to be a good decision. Time will tell whether this is.

Even for this league that's ridiculous.
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

He was sacked from West Brom before going to Chelsea!!

Everyone laughs at clubs employing managers who have been shit for other clubs, but surely employing a manager who has been shit your the same club is just another level of twattishness
