We have sky in my name, I'm cancelling now but can we sign back up as a new customer in my wife's name at the same address?

Doing this now.  Went through online have an install date.  Annoying was paying £81 a month best they could do was a tenner off, so cancelled.  Instantly got emailed an offer 50% off.  What a joke.

signed the Mrs up for SkyQ 2TB and extra box for the bedroom £50 a month

did you have broadband and a phone line with sky? we have and when I go through the website as a new user it asked for phone number etc and says we're already a customer.

Did you wait until your existing sky was shut off or sign up to the new bundle straight away?

I put a mobile in as the phone number.

I have virgin phone and internet.  I was signing up as the Mrs while on the online chat to cancel.
I moved into my house about 6 months ago and took sky with me, I may have slipped through as there has not been an install at the house in the last couple of years.  Few people get the "already at this address" error.

Just checked my order on the sky site and they have posted my viewing card so looks like this will happen.

Not sure what I say to the installer though?   Will they care?  Err yes am a new customer please ignore the current boxes.
Might say that I bought sky with me from a previous address and a mate help set it up?

Been offered Unlimited Broadband half price @ £10, Talk eve & weekends £4, Libe rental £17, Basic freeview with pause record etc £5 for 12 months TOTAL £36.

Good or bad deal? I dont really care about the TV channels really.

doesnt sound good. You should be able to get free unlimited broadband with free week and eve calls - obs the charge for the line rental and £17 a month seems to be the average. you shouldnt be paying more than £20p/m for broadband calls and line rental.

the whole package for £36 is decent as long as you have HD and the basic pack with sky (not just freeview) which includes Sky1, Atlantic and Living etc.

I have always had 50% off tv since i started sky about 10yrs ago. Each year to call when my deals are ending and they have the 50% again straight away, or i have to give my 30days notice and before it ends i get the 50% offer.

i have read of people getting 60-70% discounts and credit onto their accounts but i have never actiuall spoken to anyone with these offers.

Why anyone would be paying £80+ (£960 a yr) a month for sky is beyond me.

I quit sky about 6-8 months ago.  Every few weeks they send me out stupid offers trying to get me back.  I currently have a bundle of mail offers sitting there from them, quite a few of them have the 60% off offers, cant be bothered opening the others.  In fact, they ring every few weeks as well.

I have one of those dodgy boxes and theyre great!

yea I'm on the chat now. Even though accounts are registered to people and not address' my wife cannot sign up at our address until my account is closed in 30days. Load of poop really.

Been offered the 50% off etc, but I'm trying for sky q and fibre as we've had HD and standard broadband for 5 years or so now

I cancelled on the online chat whilst signing up the Mrs to SkyQ never got the same address problem.  Using the same address and the same bank for the direct debit.
fully expect them to call me and cancel it.  But they have just posted my viewing card.

that's true I don't have their broadband.  Would have thought it would be the address they look at though.

Will the installer care that its not a "new" customer install?   I assume he coming prepared to fit a new dish, drill holes etc.
As i already have sky HD and multiroom set up should just be a case or replacing the LMB on the dish and plugging it in.

Moved 6 months ago, had a new dish installed and all the dual cables run.

our existing deal was

Sky Original + sports, unlimited broadband and line rental for £74.90 a month.

I cancelled yesterday and attempted to sign my wife for the new deal today but have been told that's not possible. After nearly an hour and a half on the online chat I'm renewing my contract with the following....

Sky Q 1tb box (free box) £15 install and Sky MS £12 a month. Box sets and Sports 50% off. Sky Fibre £10 a month with £50 set up.

So all in all, £72 a month for 12 months but now have sky Q, box sets (and sports) and fibre.

obv not as good as the new sign up deal which we cant get for 30days and I think it expires in 5, but a lot better than what we had and no messing around of waiting 30 days, disconnecting and then getting it back up.

What new sign up deal is that mate? Looking to give them a call later and sign up, best I can find is 33% off though. Looking to dodge the £50 quid set up fee for fibre max, looks unlikely though.

I had been with sky 10+ years but I cancelled my contract a month ago and had virgin installed today. I've now got phone, broadband, the full tv package (including BT sport) and multi room for £81 a month.

About two weeks after cancelling sky they contacted me and offered phone, tv and broadband for £60 a month but £12 extra for multi room and £25 extra for BT sport via BT.

I'll see what sky offer again in a years time but it seems BT have you over a barrel if you want BT sport on sky.

£30 a month is enough to tempt me back, but it won't let me sign up :(

Ditched the TV a year or so back but had broadband until about 6 months ago.

Seems like a good offer. Unfortunately I'm stuck with Virgin for another 12 months paying 115 quid. That's for everything (TV, bb, phone)  bar films.

Edit: Just Dropped me bb to 100 meg, TV to basic bar ss and phone to weekends only.

I can watch the BT games on kodi and if I find a nvidia shield anywhere I'll sign up for sportzmania and fuck the ss off completely.

I am taking the risk, talking to them on online chat.
Cancelled 4 days ago and signed up as my Mrs (install Sat) SkyQ + multiroom £50 a month.  Was £31 less than I am paying for Sky HD no movies or sports with either package.

New offer SkyQ (2tb) and multiroom + movies, sports + boxsets £42.

They can't change it online so on hold while they talk to the tech support team... fingers crossed.

Turns out that they can't change this which I think is really bad.  The install has not even been done and the account is not active.

So now I am cancelling.  But I don't think i can sign up again as will be a new customer.

My god what effort.

They could not apply that deal to my account bit of a con that.
Lucky I did not have broadband as then my connection is active would have to get installed before you can cancel during the cooling off period.

Cancelled again.  Tried to use the offer link did not work.  Already used for this address.

Added a random address. Got a code.  Went to sign up.
Same name,  same home address, same bank account.  Even got the same install date. All went through have my tracking details.  Id number etc.

Now 42 a month.  Sky q multiroom. Boxsets movies and sports.

They dont make it easy.

They dont make it easy.

They are fucking idiots.

I had been with them years, wanted to upgrade the TV package and the box as was a bit old, as well as upgrade the broadband package, and the deal they'd offer me as an existing customer was nowhere near as good as I could get as a new one. Told them this, told them if they could come close to the offer I'd not go to the hassle of cancelling but they weren't prepared to. Told them I'm just going to cancel and then sign up in my partners name and they'd get even less a month from me then - didn't give a shit.

Cancelled, ordered the new one under her name, a couple of weeks after that was installed they came back to me saying they were sorry I was leaving, value me as a customer, blah blah and gave me an offer to come back which was similar to the new customer offer which I wanted all along.

I binned off sports and movies at the end of last season. Got a kodi box and was disappointed with the quality of live sports - the movies and box sets on it are great.

I got sports added back on the box and like a said I got a 2tb sky Q box yest for £99.

Current deal I have is Variety pack with sports Sky Q, and broadband and line rental with wkd and evn calls for £65 a month.

If you have kodi, try getting sportsmania add on. £26 for 6 months or £50 for 12. You get sky, bt and more, top quality too.

Was with Sky 15 years and was paying £75 per month for the Sports package & broadband not phone. Told them I was switching the broadband to BT & was offered phone & internet for £5 per month less than what I was paying for tv & broadband. Rung them up the following summer to cancel Sky Sports which I did every summer during the close season and they start telling me how they'll never do me another deal again. Never bothered putting the Sports back on and fucked them off in the October. Made it clear I wasn't impressed with the tone of the conversation I'd had with them in May. Within a month I could have had the whole lot back for half price.

We had all sorts of problems with Sky years ago when we tried reducing our package to the bare bones after Paul was made redundant.   Instead of taking off all the stuff we'd agreed they somehow did it as a new order and took around £200 out the bank.

Paul found the email of one of the top bods off a complaint site so I fired off an email got a reply virtually immediately with full refund, the previous 6mths charges refunded and the original package free for another 6mths.

Cancelled anyway as we had to move back to my parents and let the house to cover the mortgage but we've never gone back to them as the broadband costs and speeds were pathetic in our area compared to BT.

Sky really fucked up with this piece of shit didn't they?  :butt

Remote control straight out of a Kinder Egg, no favourite channels, ridiculous UI, series links are broken and not adjustable, the whole screen fluxes whenever you pause or rewind and no quick way to access the TV guide.

Other than how responsive it is, it's a massive downgrade from my previous Tivo box with Virgin.  If it wasn't so cheap then I'd switch back but I can put up with its shortcomings for the price.

As of 3 days ago I agreed with you.  Unfortunately the Sky Q box makes the TiVo one look like a study in perfection.

I got their top fibre broadband, boxsets TV package and free anytime calls for £26 a month, otherwise I would've cancelled.

Cancel and while you are cancelling sign up as your partner, see a few people have done this on the AV Forums.  Tried it first with the £50 a month offer (skyQ , multiroom, no sports or movies).  Another offer came out £41 a month for multiroom and both sports and movies, spoke to them and they could not apply this to my deal so cancelled again, then signed up again.

Paying £117 a month for line rental, fibre broadband and the full TV package in HD (not Sky Q). Phoned them the other day to try and get it reduced, they would only go as low as £101 so I just cancelled.

Chances of them coming back with a better offer?
