Even if he does leave, I respect him for giving committed performances while still in the team. The same could not be said of Torres.

Excerpt from Brian Reade's book "44 Months with a Pair of Cowboys" on the reign of the Tumours and the Huyton-Bootle Collective's conspicuous silence at the time...

"Spanish goalkeeper Pepe Reina told the pair he was amazed they didn’t go public and demand answers."

Says it all. Legend.

This sounds like a book that is well worth getting, is it out yet..?

Not the same book Harry.

This is Reade's new account (hopefully more substance than the Gerrard and Carragher PR puff excerpts) of the Tumour diagnosis and our remission.

Released in 10 days.

Top class keeper.

Will be part of our rise to the top again. Enough said.

Reina loves Liverpool, you just know it!!!!

However, he is one of the top 3 keepers in the world if not number 1.
He must want to win trophies....so how long does he "chance" it with Liverpool.

Obviously he wants to win it with us but he has to decide if he can realise his ambitions with the club he loves.
I'm sure this was the same problem Torres faced...he made his choice and so far it turned out to be the wrong one!!!
(I dont mind Torres leaving - its the manner he left that pi$$ed me off - actually i think it was to our benefit).
The same problem was also faced by Gerrard who admitted his head was turned but he made the right choice!!!
 - what you have to remember is Gerrards a local lad and they're Spanish, it becomes much more difficult to leave.

So overall I think Pepe will give us 1 more season under Kenny and I know he loves LFC.
If things still don't improve I have no problem if he leaves as long as it is not to Man U and he gives us enough warning to find a suitable replacement.

Pepe if you're reading this YNWA

Prego.

There's a preview excerpt in the locked thread if you're interested, which is where I took that quote from.

Agree it will be a must-read, but can imagine me grinding my teeth at some of it given the slant, and disgraceful pigeon-holing of Rafa as part of the 'warring parents' problem.

Great keeper Pepe is and i`m glad and proud he`s a Liverpool player. That said a couple of pics of him jumping in joy will not sway my mind to weather he`ll go or not, because after the torres affair i`ll never rule out anything like that happening again.

I`m just going to enjoy him while he`s ours and will have no bitterness towards him if/when he decides to go.
That right peg hits it and you see the future arc of the ball and time goes al gluey like a Dali painting, and for a second there's a 20yr old StevenGerrard and your young self cheering him on through the prism. His big smile fades in an the net is shivering and J.Hart's trying not to look grateful for the privilege of being that close to greatness

Its cheaper on Amazon, I've got it on pre-order :)

Wonder why there's a 43 years and a 44 years book.

Anyway, if Pepe leaves then I'll be more gutted than when Torres/Owen left or even when Gerrard was gonna leave, it seems he loves the club so much.

I will be shocked if he goes. There was a possibility earlier on in the season but now I am convinced he will stay.

1. He has asked about investment in summer - we will invest
2. He has proven himself to be a man of honour - it would take a major wrench for a man like that to leave Kenny
3. We are on the up - when yopu consider our peerformances against the top teams under Kenny
4. There is a growing belief and team spirit once again - a man doesnt sprint the length of the piotch to celebrate a goal with his teammates unless he is feeling happy in the dressing room.

Does he currently have a specialist goalkeeping coach since Xavi left?

Definitely not from the Torres school of leaving us that's for sure. But then Xabi and Arbeloa left the summer after smiling like that week in week out so who knows.

I hope Pepe stays, but he'll only do so if he feels like he's going to win things here. Which means following statements of intent in the transfer market with actions. I just hope he doesn't jump ship too early but waits to see how things shape up in the summer. I have a feeling we're going to have a massively significant summer in terms of transfers, and if he feels the same, he probably won't want to leave.

Also, Torres continuing to play as shit as he has and Chelsea's season fizzling out might spell it out even better; the grass just isn't greener on the other side.

It should be an easy decision for him to stay here really. We're the one top side which looks like it'll make significant changes in the summer.

He probably doesn't even know himself if he's off or not.

Read countless interviews in which he seems happy and settled in Liverpool the city.
Like Xabi I honestly believe he has a genuine love for the club and would rather win trophys here then elsewhere.

It's also true that the likes of pepe have been strung along by H&G, same as us supporters.

This summers massive, if the club follows up Januarys statement of intent in the market I reckon  he will stop.

I see your point about them smiling and such, but outfield player usually join in the celebrations. They don't have to run the length of the pitch to join in celebrations.

No he isn't. Keepers like Given and Gomes are 'prone' to stuff like that, Pepe makes the odd mistake - which happens to everyone.

Valero went to Inter with Rafa didn't he? In which case, where is he now? Wouldn't be a bad move to get him back at the club given his  relationship with Pepe.

Hot damn u serious? But to say he's world class is quite off, isn't it? Not that barca need a world class goalkeeper anyways. He's spain's 3rd choice. That says it all. Deffo not the best goalkeeper in the world. Pepe? Quite possibly.

Because they're loyal to a local Catalan and he's a very good keeper. But he's not in Pepe's (or Iker's) class.

That was the case Rossi, but now he's in firmly on merit.

He definitely aint in Iker's class, he's a couple above him. He and Pepe? It's close, but i think Valdes has made up a lot of ground.

What keeper isn't prone to miscalculations and mistakes though, crosses are probably the weakest part of his game, but he's probably still stronger than most goalies on crosses. You can count on both his gloves the amount of bad games he has had since he's been here(West Ham and Everton being 2) which is saying something considering he's been here 6 years. And he still won us the penalty shootout against West Ham. Shows his confidence isn't easily knocked, has a bad game yet still wins a penalty shootout. And confidence is usually the first thing to go with a goalie, but not are Pepe.
