True. I miss his occasional thunderbolt as well though. Guess it's just a case of irrational attachment to an average player for me. Bit like Patrik Berger.

Its called "False Barnes Replacement Syndrome", a lot of us have it. Some have it so bad, that Kuyt fills that gap for them at the moment.
did you know that 10 x 2 and 11 x 2 have the same answer?

Makes me feel sane by comparison. I like dirk but a winger he certainly is not.

That's exactly it. For all his failings I couldn't help but like Babel and support him against criticism. And I used to love Berger too.

I remember as a 10 year old wanting to grow my hair. Looking back I'd almost certainly have looked like a girl, so probably best I didn't. Never wanted to become a rapper though. I guess some traits you grow out of.

P.S. I'm not having that Berger was average. Don't wreck my childhood memories!

Paul Dalglish kinda gave it to him with both barrels after ryan tweeted that tweet about 'my number'.  Told him it was liverpool's number, not his and he should focus on his own club and 'let it go' or something.  People thought he was being harsh and told him he actually cares about liverpool, and he disagreed saying something about if he actually cared he'd have shown it while he played rather than after he's left the club, and some players don't know what they've got til they leave liverpool etc etc..  I personally think Ryan was just joking around and he genuinely does care about the clubs still.

P.S. I'm not having that Berger was average. Don't wreck my childhood memories!

Berger was a damn fine left midfielder. Contextually anyway. He also played a few times in the middle didn't he? Pretty sure he did. FAR more succesful player than Ryan Babel - FAR more.

I don't tweet but having him say a comment about Downings number must be MASSIVE news on there no? Bit of a dig, with no real foundations for him to do so, but he did think he was sexy and he's right in saying that Downing isn't. That's about it really isn't it?

Who's Paul Dalglish to be saying anything about anyone?  Just cos his dad's the king, doesn't mean he should be judging people when his own career was pretty mediocre.

think everyone is forgettin that babel blocked loads of liverpool fans for giving him honest advice, he was shite yes, but the tweet he tweeted me before blocking me showed exactly the type of person he was.
basically he called me a 'nigger hater' and that i should 'suk his dik' all because i told him he should concertraite on learning to control a ball rather than make shite dutch rap music.

I gotta take Babel's "side" on this. What has Paul contributed to Liverpool other than superior DNA?

Babel's been nothing but respectful of the club during his time and even after he left. He scored the winner agaiinst the Mancs and that makes him alright in my books. The reaction he's getting is way OTT
