The Canon IXUS 800 looks good, but on the pricey side. Think I'll opt for the 65 or 60.

£260ish from Amazon, Fantastic price if you ask me!

Yeah I was figuring in the extra accessiores as well (i.e memory card etc...). Says £240 on amazon now, could've sworn it was more a couple day ago. Am really liking the look of it, think it's my favourite model thus far :)

The IXUS 750 is an awesome camera.

So easy to use and has some great features. The pics are stunning when you look at them on your laptop.

Only thing is it is really easy to scratch. Took mine on a 3 week hol of the states and it has come back looking about 2 years old. Badly scratched on both the front and the screen, but when you have the screen on you can't tell.

Has pretty much all the features I could ask for in a digi cam. Definitely will be my first choice now. Cheers :wave.

@Captain carra

Shame about the scratching. Were you keeping it in a case? Hate it when that happens, got a few scratches on my ipod nano wheel, very sensitive!

Yeah.......err no. Bought a case to keep it in but ended up taking it out.

For random quick photos I couldn't be arsed carrying it in the case.

Also took it on nights out and only kept it in my pocket.

Worst part was half round after taking loads of photos of people and places we'd been I formatted the card. :duh

Unfortunately as they mention in the review the Ixus range is generally a bit prone to scratches, I kept my old 400 in a soft case pretty much all the time and it was fine though

Aww that sucks! :(

Yeah it's bit of a hassle having to always take it out and put it back in the case when you're taking quick pics on holiday.

I'll try to take better care of it, with every electronic equipment and gadgets they always end up getting scratched anyway. Just as long as it doesn't mess up the screen display, should be ok. Thanks again for the advice and tips everyone :wave

Olympus E500 kits at the London Camera Exchange are ok, 8MP, 2 lenses, 1Gig card, natty little bag and a portable hard drive for less than 700 quid.

For those with DSLRs or cameras that shoot RAW. Be aware that SanDisk are bundling Capture One Pro LE (retails around £70) with their Extreme III CF cards. That is outstanding value, and C1 is the best RAW processor out there bar none.

Im after a new one and the Kodak Easyshare V570 caught my eye. Anyone got one and know much about cameras?

Which one would you reccommend for around £250?

http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/kodak/v570-review/index.shtml

Or I might just go for this one

I'd suggest having a look in the Tech forum, already various threads discussing different models and price ranges.

Seeing as this has been moved, I'd recommend anything by Nikon, purely because they rule ;)

Olympus do some pretty nice cameras, good lenses with Olympus.

Can't really recommend a particular model as I know feck all about compact digital cameras.

Depends what you want really. For a small camera like that, I'd prob go for a Canon, Olympus or such.

I've got a Fuji Finepix S5500, looks like an SLR camera, small and light, has 10x Optical zoom 4x digital (optical zoom is the one you need) and a 1gb memory card is about £25 - £30. Uses normal AA/HP7 rechargeables and they last a good length of time.

The latest version is th S5600, you can pick them up for about £180 if you google it.

Fuji do some excellent cameras particularly good in low light conditions, I would probably lean towards the Ixus I mentioned if I was going to be taking a lot of photos outside

This is getting harder.

At the mo im in between the Kodak V610, the one Filo reccommended ( hello mate  :wave) and now the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX2.

Reviews on all three seem to be pretty good. Decisions decisions, mind you anything to keep my mind off that game yesterday

Hello there Sat, Lumix's are generally good cameras, I've got an FZ5 from a couple of years ago and I'm very happy with it as well.

I'd mull it over until some sort of winning run materialises ;)

My recommendation would be

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Canon-IXUS-Digital-Camera-Optical/dp/B000EW7570/sr=8-2/qid=1161605404/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2/202-0631672-3235852?ie=UTF8

Gone for this one mate, worked out a good price compared to most retailer, especially Comet.

One thing I didnt like was the email saying I have to down load my manual coz they dont come with one in English. Went through Amazon and got it with Pixmania.

Cant wait for my new toy.

Thanks all  :wave

I ordered my Fuji Finepix S5600 from pixmania because they are the cheapest - only problem is they send you a french instruction manual. They tell you this on their website and are totaly legit. Furthermore they give you an electronic copy of the english manual which I printed off at work ;-) but you don't really need it if you have an IQ of 15 or more.

Great camera - they are phasing out the bridge cameras because they are so popular - they reckon that the people that buy bridge are likely to buy a SLR if no bridge cameras exist - all to make more money!

Also for memory cards etc buy from 7dayshop.com they are the cheapest as you don't pay VAT because they are off the mainland :-)

I get some fantastic images out of it and you can probably get it fairly cheap on ebay now.

I had an EM years ago and it was great, took lovely shots. The d70 is about the same price as the eos 400 but for similar resolution the d80 is a lot more money. Decisions, decisions..
