I hear the old Punch and Judy between Lime st and the Adelphi burnt down last night. Insurance job?

Only ever walked past it and it looked kinda vile to be honest.

Whats your problem with "gobshite preppy students" (don't really know what that means) and "wools"? Out of interest like?

If you don't like the clientèle, don't fucking go there, I'm sure the place would be better off without you anyway.

Can't stand wools and students who wear loafers and ripped jeans and have hair over their eyes.

You seem to take offense at this for some reason, are you 1 of them ?

Oh and i'll go there again 1 more time to see if this was a 1 off or if the place is a meeting point of gobshites in lumberjack shirts and blag accents, if that's alright with you like mate, wouldn't wanna go offending you any more than i already have now would i ?

I think his point is more along the lines of as long as someone is not ruining your night out then what does it matter?  And if someone ruins your night out by having the wrong shirt on then you probably need to take a look at yourself.

Wouldn't ruin my night in any way and i never said it would, i just choose not to surround myself with people who i dislike or have nothing in common with (like Wools, Students or Hipsters), the same way they probably would feel a bit uncomfortable coming into a boozer full of scousers watching the footy and chatting shit, it's no big deal.

Everyone has their own preferences.

Are you honestly telling me you have never avoided a bar based on the bars main clientele ?

As i say it's not a big deal, everyone does it whether consciously or sub consciously, it's the way the bar/pub industry works, you stick to the ones you like most and feel more at ease with

The only things that really make me avoid a bar are prices, shit ale, shit music or threatening/rude punters.  That tends to rule most of them out anyway without adding additional criteria ;)

I might a lad a couple of weeks back, a mate of a mate, who had skinny brown cords on, a cravat, thick rimmed glasses and a floppy fringe and a funny accent. My first thought was "twat". Then I spoke to him and he turned out he was sound. I learned a long time ago to not judge a book by its cover, its caught me out too many times.

You say "are you one of them" as if to poke fun at me? As if I'd be embarrassed by being a "wool" or a student? I'm not a wool no, I've been living in Liverpool all my life (thats 2 years longer than you) and don't consider myself a hipster, or a student (unfortunately not anymore) and I don't own any lumberjack shirts, or ripped jeans, nor is my hair in my face.

I'd guess that I dress and act a bit differently from you though, thank god, and I'd feel much more at home with a load of gobshite hipster wool students with blag accents than with a load of scouse morons who harbour irrational dislikes for people just because they're different.

You want to open your mind mate and let a little bit of the world in, Liverpool isn't the centre of the universe and scousers aren't the only people worthy of your time. These "gobshites" bring a great deal into this city and contribute a lot.

It's my birthday today so me and the girlfriend are going for a feed and then going for a slap of drink.  I think we might try that Bier Keller place.  Anyone know of any other pubs in town that do a good range of German or other imported beers?  (The Fly in the Loaf and the Ship and Mitre aside)

They are not my kind of people and i dislike being around them it is as simple as that and completely my choice, the same way i don't drink around the gay part of town as that is also not my scene, why are you getting offended on their behalf and carrying this on like it actually matters ?

It's the same way i would walk into a boozer full of scallys, it'd be because that's not my scene or type of gaff.

Aye, walked up to it yesterday evening and it was shut  :duh

Hadn't been up that part of the town in a while.

I'll check The Dispensary out.  I was in Bier for the first time last night, quite liked it.

Yeah Stewy how can you get wound up by Mr "Live and Let Live" Chronic just because he prefers some scenes over us, I mean it's not as if he said anything like this:

The cons are that it is literally filled with gobshite preppy students and wools in knitted cardigans and loafers (i despise these people)

is it?  So cool your loafers Stewy.

Im a scouser from huyton who goes the games, and was a student until recently, and have longer than average hair. come at me  :wave

And you're not helping, you are just going to confuse Chronic, he'll not know whether to despise you or not ;)

Another quality little bar especially for the good weather is an outdoor bar just opened across from cube or whatever its called now.  Has some decent ales on and good atmosphere.  Think its only opened a week ago.  Imagine an outdoor shipping forecast.

Makes you cringe does it not ?

Apart form the odd pint in The White Star , generally keep well away from Mathew Street but pass thorugh sometimes to other parts of town .

Does anyone actually go into any of these pubs because some little scrote tells you it's boss ?

Me too a much missed part of a night out for me. It went downhill after they did the place up and got rid of the jukebox for a DJ playing loud shit music (don't try and fix what isn't broken). They tried to make the place something it wasn't, it was an alternative from all the loud clubs where you could actually have a conversation and pick some tunes on the jukebox to enjoy in the background. The only place that comes close these days is MelloMello except it doesn't have a jukebox.

Was in Bier in Lark Lane on Monday and it was pretty dead when others on the lane where pretty full, not really surprised given the prices they charge. Think its the sort of place you call in for one or two (especially when its not your round  ;)) rather than spend a night/few hours in.
