Going to take my girlfriend out for a quiet drink tonight, glad I stumbled across this thread.  Think we might try Ye Cracke, it looks decent and isn't far from us.  Anyone know what sort of time it serves to on a Sunday night?

I think it's 11.30 mate.  It is in a residential street, after all.

Give them a bell.

London Road, mate.  It's really handy to town, great when going for a beer, (something which has been fairly rare this year, unfortunately).

Haha, I've only lived here a year and hadn't a clue where you meant, so I googled it.  That bar is literally a Sander Westerveld kickout away from our gaff, I never even knew what it was called  ;D

I actually might go for a sneaky pint in Paddy's Bar down the road during the week, they've been doing it up recently, and by fuck, it needed it.

The Pig is in a bit o' danger

http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liverpool-news/local-news/2012/06/19/liverpool-s-world-famous-pig-whistle-pub-formally-wound-up-100252-31211440/

Quote
A WORLD famous Liverpool pub was hit with a legal double whammy in the space of a week – leaving its future looking bleak.

The Pig & Whistle, on the corner of Chapel Street and Covent Garden, was formally wound up yesterday due to non-payment of taxes.

The move was requested by HM Revenue & Customs and means the Official Receiver will now handle the affairs of the pub, which is more than 200 years old.

The Official Receiver will try and pay off as much of the pub’s debts as possible by selling any assets and then closing the business, officially registered as Pig & Whistle (Liverpool) Ltd.

Playing recorded music at the venue was also banned last week after its owners were found not to have a licence from the Performing Rights Society.

Proprietors John Gallagher and Claire Byrne were also given a legal costs bill of £1,850 with a payment deadline of June 28 by High Court judge Mr Justice Morgan last Thursday.

A spokeswoman for HM Revenue & Customs said as it was a civil matter it could not comment or disclose the total amount of tax arrears.

An information officer for the Liverpool-based Official Receiver in Bankruptcy said the High Court’s compulsory winding-up order was in the process of being handed over.

The Pig & Whistle’s fame derives from when it was the watering hole of choice for sailors travelling the world on board sailing ships and steamers berthing at the nearby Pier Head docks.

As a result the crew bars on Merchant Navy ships are universally known as “the Pig”.

The pub also boasted a sign stating “emigrants served here” from its days as a boarding house for people waiting for ships taking them to America or Australasia.

The docks disappeared well over a century ago under the Pier Head’s Three Graces – yet the Pig & Whistle remained a favourite for those who wanted an old-fashioned, traditional city centre haunt.

A trendy makeover four years ago went down badly with some regulars.

I watched the England v Sweden game there. The place is HUGE - like an old warehouse. They have a massive Cinema screen there to watch the footy. Crocodile beers were around £3 each. If you get a table you can just get service and also they have people going round selling food.

Google Maps Street View, isn't always right up to date.

Number 67 is on the bottom corner.  Corner of Greenland Street and Flint street.

Why don't you contact them, and ask them.

Got 16 lads descending tomorrow for a stag weekend. Weather is going to be fucking shite and i always feel the pressure of taking them to decent places.

Thing is everyone is into different stuff and also its a nightmare getting loads of lads in anywhere at the weekend.

Shit weather must hit bars in the pocket something crazy.

Went there last night with a mate to watch the Italy/England game.

Pro's are the lagers are boss, Sagres, Birra Morretti, Mythos, Tyskie etc and big massive 2 pint glasses of pilsner for £5.50
The telly is enormous and it was rammed

The cons are that it is literally filled with gobshite preppy students and wools in knitted cardigans and loafers (i despise these people) and there is a 20 minute wait for the bogs (about 20 lads in a queue to wait for 3 toilets and no urinals which is utterly ludicrous) so i ended up just wandering off outside and pissing in an alley over the road.

Might give it another go for a Liverpool match but i genuinely cannot stand those Hollyoaks clone types

haha well at least i now know me and my mates were'nt the only ones to have encountered that prick

went in for a midweek match, i ordered a cider and my other mate literally walked in the door and had a lucazade bottle sticking out of his pocket (with about a quater left) and before he knew it the barman kciked off on him.mate kept his head and ordered a drink (even though he was gonna do it anyways). my other mate arrived 10mins in, who was sick that day but couldnt watch the match at home, barman looks at him and starts on him too saying he shouldnt be in a pub if he hasnt  drink and tells us all where the door is. he actually mumbled something to me as well but before i could answer back he'd walked away (cos he clearly listens to himself only in his dillusional state).

after he stared at us persistently for the entire first half, we had enough and got off.

completely unprovoked.

ill never spend another penny in that pub.

Well that seems to be his obsession then.  Making sure nobody ever sits there without a pint.  When we went in on Cup Final day the lads took a seat and I went to the bar to see what they had.  Then I went for a piss and came back to take the drinks list before ordering and he was on us quicker than a tramp on chips.  "You can't just sit in here if you're not having a drink.  Order something, and I mean something each, not one bottle between you, or leave".  Given that I'd been a semi-regular up to then and we would've spent the best part of £50 in there before kick off, I'm willing to go out on a limb and say "it wasn't my fucking loss" when we walked out after putting a flea in his Mr Potato Head ears.

Not that exact issue but I have had some problems there, last time ordered a pint and it was definitely on it's way out, tasted really sharp and vinegary and the head was breaking up and turning bitty.  Took it back to the bar and asked if I could swap it for a different beer as it was off and was told, in not so many words, to fuck off.  No tasting it, looking at it, checking the pump, anything, just sit down, shut up and drink the pint of piss we served you.  Pretty much swerved the place since, although to be honest all the Cains pubs have been in terminal decline for the last few years and more or less usurped by newer, better bars and brewers.

Indeed it is.

I also noticed on Thursday, that the building next to The Peacock, and facing The Revolution, in St.Peter's Square is getting ripped out/Refurbed to be yet another bar.

That part of town is going to reach saturation point soon.

that would be this place apparently - http://www.facebook.com/stag.liverpool

not much info on it yet though. same owners as peacock/heebies/jac(rip) etc
