Went out in Liverpool for the first time in a few years on Saturday night and got mugged outside the Raz. So my opinion of the cities nightlife is at an all time low.

Bad luck that mate - hope you're OK .

I've been going to town for years and honstly can't remember the last time I've seen any trouble.

I've been drinking in town for 25 years, and never had so much as a snarl.  Sorry to hear you got done.

What did they take? and did you get done in, or just hand over the goods?

Went to a new place called Inn next to Caesar's Palace at the weekend.  Has the potential to be a nice little ale house.  Bit barren at the moment though and the crappy 3 bar heaters they've got set up kind of ruin the otherwise fairly classy vibe.  Great ale though.

Then went to The Dispensary, which I've enjoyed before, but on this occasion some twat of a barman/landlord (don't know which) pretty much forced us to leave on principal by being a cheeky prick.  Wound me right up, so we just left.  Part of a crappy Saturday, taking into account the Final.

Funnily enough we have experienced the miserable bastard in the Dispensary before now, a few people have mentioned it. Dont know if he's the landlord or a barman, but he is one arrogant fooker.

There is a boss array of beer mats in there!

So that's Ma Egerton's and the Picture House closed down within a few months of each other. There has to be a market for a good boozer round there though. It's within spitting distance of a mainline train station, a theatre where there are shows every night and one of the main music venues in the city where again, there are bands on every night.

Had a few round town with the missus last night, started off in the Philarmonic which was rammed (think there was a show on over the road). Its got a lot better the Phil, it went down hill a bit with bad ale but they seem to have turned it round.
Had a few in the Cracke, as others have said, one of the best boozers in Liverpool, love the place.
Mooched into Pogue Mahones just for the Guinness, surprised as it was quite empty - everyone seemed to be in that Salt Dog Slims next door - too packed to even contemplate going in.

Finished off in the Cabin, devastated as for the first time in over 17 years of going there, I noticed they had a proper bouncer on the door!  :'( Its always been the old fella who would answer the door and let you in, but if he didnt like the look of you, you just didnt get in! Place was full of youngsters - and I'm talking, 18/19/20 yr-olds - dont know whats happened to the gaff.

Went to that OSQA bar in Oldham street (just opposite rapid at the top of renshaw street). Very nice place and a nice pint as well. Prices weren't too bad either. 2 pints and 2 halves was 10.35 which ain't bad for town

Indeed it is.

I also noticed on Thursday, that the building next to The Peacock, and facing The Revolution, in St.Peter's Square is getting ripped out/Refurbed to be yet another bar.

That part of town is going to reach saturation point soon.
