Babel's pace > Kuyt/Maxi
Babel's crossing > Kuyt/Maxi
Babel's shots > Kuyt/Maxi
Babel's flair > Kuyt's (Maxi arguably better.)

Not to mention that they both play so narrow.

A winger shouldn't have to help out his fullbacks so don't gimme this "Kuyt and Maxi helps out in defence."

This. If he goes to Ajax as part of the Suarez deal, he will bang in 30 goals over the next two seasons and them move to Arsenal for 25M.

Luis Suarez Liverpool FC deal may see Ryan Babel return to Ajax

By Luke Traynor
Jan 18 2011

LIVERPOOL'S Ryan Babel has appeared to suggest his future lies away from Anfield after newspaper comments linked him to a possible switch to Ajax.

The 24-year-old has played intermittently for the Reds in recent weeks and the Dutchman is keen on securing regular first-team football.

Liverpool have been monitoring striker Luis Suarez, the Uruguyan who scored three times at the 2010 World Cup before his infamous sending-off for a goal-line handball in the quarter-final against Ghana.

And, according to comments in De Telegraaf newspaper, Babel is hoping to form part of any potential deal which might see the South Anerican come to Anfield, and the unsettled winger head the other way.

He was quoted as saying: "The transfer of Suarez to Liverpool opens the door for me to go to Ajax.

"If Liverpool and Ajax - whether in combination with Luis - can reach an agreement over me I will surely come to the club. For the chance to play I am willing to settle for far less pay."

Babel was yesterday fined £10,000 and warned about his future conduct for posting comments and a doctored picture of referee Howard Webb on Twitter.

He added: "For a player of my age it is important to be playing week in week out."

According to a German source of mine Babel will go to Hoffenheim. Will post details if I get any.

Confirmed now. Babel will go to Hoffenheim for a fee of 7 million euros.

"

lol no...

clearly biased opinion zzz...

as it is Babel has a better goal/assist per minute ratio  than kuyt and Kuyt has the worst passing success rate ratio in the whole team.

Ha ha 'clearly biased' says the Babel fanboy.

Yeah, goal/assist per minute ratios are so important. I wonder why he plays so few minutes?

Yeah much prefer Dirk getting down the wing, running out of ideas, turning and then passing backwards. Stop living off Dirks 2008/09 season.

Stop living off Babel's... errr... never season

and even failing to do that properly...

except in 1 in 10 games

Dirk has a goalscoring record for us of one in four. He has an assist record of one in seven. What are you talking about?!

he only runs at 3 players in the 89th minute because your mate has been running the ball towards our own goal for the last 88.

He runs straight into three players whether he starts or gets a cameo. He's a headless chicken.

Well you stil think he should be in the starting 11 then, which he should not be. Not ahead of a young player with potential and who offers something different in Babel or Pacheco. Oh and you call Babel a donkey? Ive seen donkeys with a better touch than Kuyt!

In your opinion. I think he can support Torres well - I liked the way he created the chance for our first goal on Sunday then cooly dispatched our second from the spot. At least Kuyt gets goals and assists. Babel is done here, get over it. And Pacheco should be eased into the team gradually.

if your willing to see kuyt playing ever game, providing the "safe option" of breaking down attacks, but running back to try win it back, and repeating this process, with no attacking threat, thats fine
but ohhhhhhhh why would you want babel, who never tracks back, or closes down or never provides an assist, or cant find a team mate with a pass, its a myth mate, there is a reason we have been shit, the last 18 months or so, and im not saying its all kuyt, but its because we have a lack of flair, we had players like alonso, to provide a bit of impetus, but now its all workman like, imo we need someone like babel to make teams a little bit afraid of us again...

Never said Kuyt should play very game. I'd rotate him more. We definitely have a lack of flair, a lack of pace, a lack of quality, but Babel isn't that player.

Is that a joke?! Babel better at shooting than Dirk? Ha ha. I must have missed all those goals and imagined all the times he hits Row Z or the corner flag. Give me a Dirk or Maxi cross any day than one good one from Babel every three or four months.

See ya Ryan - best of luck elsewhere.

Remember that it might only be 7mill euro's but its also about 60k a week off the wage bill. Replace him in the squad with Pacheco and its plenty more resources to plough into getting a top class first teamer.

I know what you're trying to say and I agree on first thought, but stats says it all mate. Reality talks, facts talk. ;)

Two completely opposite players and whaddya know- the one who works harder, but with less talent, got more to brag about. Like Kenny has been telling the players all along- the harder we work, the luckier we'll get.

Mate Arsenal spending 25p would be a shocker.

Not in 2 or 3 years it won't be. They've had a business plan sorted for years while we've been suffering from those two shits.

In a few years Arsenal are gonna have cash to burn. Whether Wenger is too stubborn to spend it I'm not sure but he showed with Arshavin that he will spend every now and then. I reckon those kind of players will become more of a feature in their squad.

That's why FSG want to follow the 'Arsenal' model!!
I can confirm that on this subject at least, there is an almost cultish obsession, which I find quite unnerving.

He really was a supersub at times, i'll never forget the Lyon goal such a shame we couldn't hold on.

He is alot better than Cole/Maxi/Kuyt in my opinion, so it's a real shame he's going.

If this is true though we're gonna need even more signings now we got one less player in the squad, especially as he was a utility player who could play in more than 1 position (Even tho he usually disappoints whichever position he plays).

I'm quite indifferent to this transfer story. He has (had?) the potential, but he'll never make it here. Not good enough when called upon. Has been given chances, but never established himself here. Maybe because he was played out of position. Maybe because he's not good enough. It doesn't matter now anyway. It's a shame we couldn't recoup what we bought him for, but then again he didn't turn out to be the Ryan Babel we all wet ourself to a few years ago.

On the plus side, maybe this indicates a new winger will be brought in?

He'll always be more remembered for what he did off the pitch (Twatter) - Maybe that sums him up.

His last tangible contribution to lfc fans was giving them a laugh on a social networking site... vaguely appropriate for babel really.
