Decided to leave Kaiserslautern after having fucked up with the U23 rules and things not going well. Was unemployed for a couple of months and then went to Blackpool in L1. They were close to the relegation places, but were supposed to get a top half finish. Won the remaining few matches and got a decent finish. I think it was 13th or so. No money for transfers and not a lot of free money in the wage budget. Got three loan players from Man City who are our mother club. Also got a few players on a free. Sold my GK for a million but really get any of the money to re-invest. Doing well so far having been at the top of the table for a few weeks. I have dropped to second place now after having to play loads of games. It's January now and I'm out of the League Cup having only lost 3-2 against man City. They didn't play any of their first team players though. Still in the FA Cup and have reached the semi final of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy. Only u23 teams left in there. Hope I'll be able to get promoted, because that would help me money wise...

Wow, what a season I've had with Blackpool. Have won the Papa John's Trophy easily beating Arsenal's U23s in the final 2-0. Could have lived with not winning it, if I got promoted, but in the end I manager both. Was fighting with Sunderland for second place the final ten games of the season or so with Huddersfield winning the league comfortably. My team hit a bad patch in the run up to those last ten games and I was kind of worried, that we wouldn't make it after being at the top of the league at the half-way point of the season. Luckily the fixtures eased up a bit compared to January and February, where there was bascially a match every few days. We played Sunderland on matchday 37 or so and we managed a draw there, so stayed ahead of them. After that, my team did really well and we managed to win whenever we needed and at lest get a draw, if we didn't. Sunderland didn't do so well, so the gap was five points with a handful of games remaining. In the end, we got 2nd place being 8 points ahead of Sunderland who fell apart in the last few games. They still got promoted in the playoffs.

Have just started the next season (first game will be against Sunderland ;)) and I have to say Brexit is a pain in the arse. I need players and I don't really have a lot of money. The board gave me 1.5 million for transfers, but I shifted all that to my wage budget, because otherwise I wouldn't be able to get new players. The previous season I had three players on loan from Man City, but couldn't get them for this season. The striker who scored 35 goals in 56 matches or so, didn't want to extend the loan. I have no idea why, because he's only 19 and will not play for Man City and I doubt that they'll loan him to a PL club, so he could have joined me in the Championship. I also had a winger and a DM from Man City, but couldn't get either of them. The winger would have cost me 1.5 million in compensation and I couldn't wait until he was out of released, because another team (possibly West Ham) picked him up. The DM was out of contract at the end of the season and released by Man City and I could have gotten him for decent wages, because he liked Blackpool after being on loan there. Sadly, he's from Croatia and he didn't get a work permit. Could have signed some other good players on a free, but again they didn't get work permits. So, now I have signed another loan-striker from Man City and have gone for a couple of free English players. I hope they work out like the free signings the season before did.

Non league to be honest. That's Capenhurst Villa  ;D

No seats for fans at all!! Impressed they did SOMETHING for this level though

For pre season I love scheduling fixtures with tiny clubs or even away ones in a little tour to see the stadiums

Schedule > Arrange Friendly > Choose Nearby Teams (or Very Small (Foreign), or Choose Other...)

Transfers are a bit crazy in this. I'm in the Netherlands now and Ajax have signed a 33-year-old Neymar for free (earning 100K per week), but they also have Origi and last I looked they also tried getting Sadio Mané for 10 million. Not sure that Ajax would do something like that in RL. The league itself is a bit of a pain in the arse. It's basically three tiers. Upfront are Ajax and Feyenoord who basically never lose any matches, then there's a few teams fighting for the CL places (including my Utrecht team) and then there's the rest (I'm half way through the season and I'm 10 points ahead of the team behind me).

PSG are unbelievable in a game I've got right now. I'm half-thinking to give another French team a sugar daddy via the Editor so there's at least some sort of competition for players in that league (any recommendations? Marseille? St Etienne? Why not Dijon). Pretty sure at one point they had Neymar, Mbappe, Haaland, Havertz, Wirtz, Foden, a Portuguese AML regen wonderkid and more. They were trying to sign every technical AM in the game, reminded me of Wenger's later years at Arsenal where they had so many interchangeable attacking players but didnt invest a penny in defence or goal :D. Real bought Haaland off of them after about 2 years because he couldn't get a game after signing for them.

After what you said, I noticed Salzburg's in-game philosophies mean they don't stay as a conveyor belt for the top leagues as they have been in real life for the last 5-6 years or so. I'll play about with the Editor soon and try to make the game world a little more interesting the further I get in.

PSG aren't doing as well in my save. They have won the CL once, but other than that their team doesn't look that special. They have gotten Havertz as well, but no other really big signings I think. They even bought my 3rd keeper for 250K, but he was just for their reserves. They also had Haaland and he did okay for them, but he's now playing for Man City after they've paid more than 230 million for him. And just had a look and didn't realise that Ajax also signed Thomas Müller from Bayern and of course they got Mané in the end and he's also with them.

The Chines clubs in this are insane. They pay crazy prices and even if you decline their offer for a player they just keep bidding and upping their bid every time. I regret not getting rid off one of my strikers when one of the Chinese clubs offered 40 million (I think his worth was about 12m or so at that point). But he didn't want to leave and I didn't have any other strikers except him and one I had just signed from Mexico, but didn't know how well he'd do. The offers from China have so far been really good for getting rid of aging players and replacing them with younger ones...

I'm playing as a Romanian team, getting into the knockouts of the Europa most seasons, and every season I get a couple bids from Chinese clubs for quite good money for my players. I have managed to sell them a few players I didn't need anymore for 2mill+ (which is a lot of money for Romania!)
We already have shit in the country, and the game of Liverpool fills life with joy. Thanks

Does anyone play the touch version? Is it worth getting?

I’ve got the full version on PC and noticed it comes with the touch version but from the looks of it to play it on my iPad I have to buy it from the App Store? It’s annoying that I have to pay for it again, it’s £8.50 at the moment so not sure whether to bother

Interested to know myself, always played it on the PC and have it in my head that the tablet version wasn't as 'full' in terms of player data bases etc. Just bought an EV so thinking if i had FM on the ipad i could play that a bit while charging it out on the road!

Touch uses the same database and same match engine etc.

It's streamlined in some other ways. I vastly prefer the full version but Touch isn't bad, it's more streamlined. Not as deep, but that compromise isn't the in the database.

Indeed, there's only one FM database officially anyway. Though you lose options to customise the nations etc. Like you do in full

Cool thanks, couldn't remember if it was database or other parts that was 'lacking' as such.

Main differences in Touch:

-No team talks
-You don't have 100 staff like in the full game (just key staff)
-Some league specific rules aren't implemented
-Training isn't as detailed
-You won't have access to super detailed stats but you will have the standard reports

Database is slightly smaller in Touch since teams retain only their best reserves/youth players instead of all of them at the start. In terms of tactics and the match engine, it's the same as the full game.

It's easy to get through seasons as the processing is pretty fast but if you are someone who enjoys all the bells and whistles of the full game you might find this a little lacking. You'd have got the Touch version free on the PC, you might want to give that a go and see if you like it before committing to a purchase.

Yeah, good shout that.

Touch comes with FM PC

When it starts just choose "no" to touch optimised skin

The lack of media conferences alone might be what swings it  ;D

Started a new game, moved Messi to PSG, updated the Barca squad then left it on holiday for a few hours

Bad news: in the year 2028, Barca are still winning the league every year (with the odd dip for Real)

Pretty much

In 2033, Fati sees out his career at Liverpool!

Pedri is good but maybe not the next Messi. Think a few years ago he had 199 potential, but alas...

Weird in the future though. Pep goes to Liverpool and Jurgen goes to City...

Oh... Moriba is good? If I had known that, I wouldn't have pissed him off shortly after I had signed him. Looks like things are back on track though after he has spent a year on loan and is now back with my team. I'm in my third season in charge at Wolfsburg and while things have gone pretty well so far, I hate that I have players wanting to leave for the likes of Everton or West Ham despite playing in the CL now and having finished the previous season in second place behind Bayern who are basically invincible in this...

Have to say the tactics thing has gotten much better compared to versions from earlier years. I used to hate that after a while even the best tactic suddenly didn't work anymore and things just went to shit after a while, because you had to start making changes, players got pissed off and it just went further downhill from there. With the newest version I've found that once you've found a good tactical setup for your team, it keeps working, if you get the right players for it. It's also easier to make changes with assistant managers making suggestions or doing all the individual commands for the players. At the same time, I still have managers like Adi fucking Hütter who always get the better of me and manage to beat my team or at least get a draw. For me that's kind of the sweetspot of where the game needs to be. It's not so easy that you just win every week playing the same way, but at the same time, it's not as in-depth as having to fine tune everything in a slightly different way every week...

The downside is you won't be able to make database changes to the gamepass version so no correct German, Japanese NT, team and competition names etc.

That's one downside of gamepass that you can't access the files. I have to say though that national teams don't really bother me in my current save. The only really bad thing is that Juve is also not in there and they have a pretty strong team and having "Zebre" or whatever they're called in the latter stages of the CL or winning the Serie A is a bit strange...

Definitely freshens the game up.
