Made up about this. Without signing any spectacularly enormously big names, we've come to have one of the best left sides in the league on paper. Really looking forward to seeing what Enrique can do together with Downing, as he was excellent with Jonas who, with all due respect, is a massive tosser that shouldn't be playing in Premier League, let alone for Argentina.

Seems like we are in unison in terms of being happy with this signing. I suppose there are some whining c*nts who want us to sign some guy they've seen twice for £25m.

Made up with this signing. I know Downing's and Enrique's individual abilities may not be the most popular of choices for everyone, but I am really excited by the possibility of them in tandem on our left hand side. This time last year our left hand side was Konchesky and Cole. Better times lie ahead. I think any disappointment in the signings is because we expected to buy the likes of Mata, Aguero and Coentrao due to the money we spent in the summer. I was one of those who got carried away with anticipation and clung to any rumour of a big name signing. Looking at our team now, I think we are much stronger in all areas than we were last summer. The club have spent well and wisely and have not been afraid to drag out a deal to get the best price possible. £6 mil for a fast, forward thinking left back with Premiership experience or £25 mil for Coentrao. The club have done well and we should be here celebrating not only the managers choice in players, but the owners willingness to invest wisely and not do a Man City.

This is not a criticism of the lad, because I'm delighted we got him - but seemingly he only scored one goal during his entire spell at Newcastle.

Again - I'm not complaining - we have plenty of goal scorers in our team and I know Enrique is good for getting us attacking.

I stressed the point in my thread that it was not something I was worried about! Just an interesting observation. A lot of fullbacks score plenty of goals - but then they are sometimes defensively error prone. I'm very happy with Jose.

Evra has only scored twice in 7 seasons at Utd - hasn't stopped him picking up numerous league medals though.

You're probably right there. When he has Downing, Gerrard and Suarez playing along side him he'll definitely be given plenty of chances to have a crack! Exciting times.

Not sure how many Arbeloa scored, I know Jar got some not always in the right net though, scoring goals is not really a major factor for a LB

Arbeloa scored 2 - Wigan and West Brom IIRC.

That's interesting mate - didn't know that. I would have thought he had scored plenty more. I immediately just compared him to our other flank when I saw that stat and thought of how Glen has probably already scored 5 or 6 goals for us.

I feel like I need to stress again - I wasn't complaining or even saying it was a weakness of his. I just saw the stat on the LFC page and thought it was interesting.
