Everything he does in the build up phase is great. Lacks conviction in the penalty area too often though.

Relentless, but should have scored today.
Mark my words. Top 8 will be a massive struggle.
We won't make any big signings this season and we will go back to being a top4 club.

Hard to criticise him because he was good the whole game, but man you have to score one of those chances.

Did everything but score. With a little more composure, he wins us the game in what was otherwise a barnstorming second half. Cannot fault anyone that puts in effort like that.
Quote from: Dion Fanning

The chants for Kenny Dalglish that were heard again on Wednesday do not necessarily mean that the fans see him as the saviour. This is not Newcastle, longing for the return of Kevin Keegan. Simply, Dalglish represents everything Hodgson is not and, in fairness, everything Hodgson could or would not hope to be.

He's brilliant at everything except for scoring and assisting.  Just wildly inconsistent on that front.

Yep, poor finishing but an absolutely fantastic second half performance. He was taking too many touches on the ball first half and looks a little short on confidence in front of goal.

Got some Engine and Desire, but his finishing is way below.

Like I said, tireless and full of energy, but no end product. He had an opportunity to slip Darwin in for a 1 on 1 as well, but just preferred to continue dribbling. Why?

I'm not sure "does everything right" is a good description of his performance. There were occasions where a better pass, a better touch, or a quicker pass would have been better. It's not just this game. It's always been the case with him this season. He's always playing like it's just himself on the pitch. There is no connections with other players. Just touch touch touch until he runs out of options.

The problem is he has a die trying attitude on the pitch so you can't criticize him. I feel like this is the part the manager has to come in and improve his play. Hopefully the next manager will be able to add end products to Diaz.

He missed 3 huge chances, the hard work around that doesn’t absolve him for those misses.

It’s the ultimate curates egg of a performance - his passing and finishing were poor, ball carrying, running and effort off the charts

Yep, he can't be fantastic if his end product isn't great, Traore St Maxim and the likes have been lambasted on this forum time and time again for giving defenders a torrid time without scoring or assisting.

Took the game to them, shame he couldnt score and just laughed at Neville acting like he should have hit one first time as the replay showed it to be impossible because the pass was behind him

im not sure the second one was that bad. ball was behind and he kind of had to tee it up.  the first one should have went in though.

regardless, he was outstanding today especially in the second half.

That's what he is, though, isn't it? I don't really think he's good enough, but I am always impressed by his sheer desire to win. I doubt he's ever going to improve his output much, but he's a hell of a squad player.

Played the game of his life in that second half, couldn't have done much more. Anyone saying he can't beat his man just needs to watch that second half.

Quite strange because the statisticians only had us missing 2 big chances in the whole game.

I dont mind the 1v1 miss though. As cliched as it goes, strikers miss chances sometimes. But we had so many potential situations in both halves that with better build up play would have created even more clear cut chances. And Diaz has never been a part of intricate build up play with quick passing and movement. He just takes the ball and goes for a stand off with their right back. The comparison to Traore and Saint Maximin is oddly apt.

Fantastic today, not sure he misses those chances without being Diaz, if that makes sense.
I don't agree, he'd go to Legoland. Bye.
