Would anyone be surprised if the one time City drop points in a title run in, it's when they're not up against us?

I have a sneaky feeling it'll happen and Arsenal will pounce.

Not trying to be some smart arse but I knew after the Brighton game and then United. We were hanging on and clawing games back and looked spent. The other two were scoring for fun. I wasn’t even surprised or annoyed by Palace. The writing was on the wall once they both overtook us and it was pretty obvious we weren’t going to win all of our games even then.

Neither Day nor Ronnie are anywhere near their best - really scrappy stuff with lots of unexpected misses. I’d never noticed before just how Day’s technique has major flaws; Murphy pointed out a ‘quirk’ where his thumb isn’t still on the potting stroke. He also has some involuntary head movement on pressure shots.

Looks like no huggy time, wars were started over less..

One of them will have to commit seppuku it's the only way.
Seems a bit like...

JK: "You ready to go on?"
MS:  "Sure whatevs. About fucking time"
JK:  "You don't sound ready..."
MS:  "Pfff what do you want me to say? Bit late innit" *waves arms like stroppy teen*
JK:  "You wanna go back on the bench?" *adopts Dad tone*
MS:  "Dude..." *jogs on pitch*

Yeah it’s interesting because we can only guess from the outside. To me it feels like Klopp has lost the energy because competing with City with our resources is extremely difficult. Similar to what happened at Dortmund, and that losing him might make the difference more apparent. And the players he left behind at Dortmund never reached the same heights. Rather than the squad being stale, it’s that he’s wrung everything he could from them and a new manager might not be able to draw as much from the same players.

Hopefully Slot is great but I’ve not felt this level of apathy for a new season before but it’s hard to get excited when you’re losing one of the best fitting managers we’ve ever had.

Imagine how we young lads felt 50 years ago when the great Bill Shankly, right out of the blue, called it a day. Heartbroken & traumatised is the only way I could describe it. Turned out OK in the end though didn't it ? Keep the faith. We've got a great squad so our new manager is half way there already. If he's as tactically switched on as many people are saying, then we could be in for more fun times.

The key is strength and other physical and technical qualities. Height is just an added advantage, mainly at set pieces and aerial duals.

Kante was the best defensive midfielder around, by a mile, for a few years at 5 foot 7. Mascherano a world class DM  for us and Argentine for years at 5 foot 9.

People got carried away thinking Caicedo was a Kante clone, but who knows how well he'd have done here.

For me it’s as much about the partnership. Kante was truly brilliant, but there’s no doubting he was at his best when he was able to forge a proper partnership, usually with someone that could hold and screen, essentially letting him off the leash to disrupt. Funnily enough, Arsenal have used Rice in a similar way at times when they’ve let Jorginho sit in front of the back four, essentially given Rice freedom to press high and pen the opposition in.

I think height can be important in the position but only because it can be so difficult to dribble past taller, rangey players. It felt like our defensive three of Van Dijk, Matip and Fabinho were impenetrable at times because they were so big and rangey.

As has been alluded to, the 6 market is really poor at the moment, it feels like we want a unicorn and there simply aren’t the players coming through. I’m wondering if we can possibly get creative and find an alternative solution. I can remember watching Fabinho play centre back and right back for Monaco, I seem to recall Mourinho wanted to sign him as a defender when he was at United, too. Are there any centre backs out there that look like they could play midfield? Could Inacio? I’ve seen a few saying Slot isn’t afraid to get creative with his positional solutions. Maybe we have to think outside the box with the potential 6. I don’t think it can be ignored, for me it’s become one of the most crucial positions to preventing counter attacks and balancing the entire team.

Cant be worrying about next season's injuries already... Thats a bad place to be.

It's not about worrying about injuries, just remaining realistic. You can be excited for a new season while recognising the need to strengthen your squad because injuries are a thing and the drop off from your first 11 is quite obscene in a number of positions. The margin for error is something I dont quite think your fans fully comprehend

It's just weird seeing all we've had happen be completely ignored only to hear the same shit we were saying as if we never showed how it goes

Close game this at HT.

Brunson already has 23 points.

Lets go Knicks!!!!!!

It looks like the 76ers don't know how to deal with Brunson. He's unstoppable.
