If I was into that kind of thing I'd bet that at least 1 kick off on opening weekend will be run back for a TD.

The value of a kick off returner has been relatively limited over the last few years. Punt returns are slightly different.

I do wonder if these new rule changes might change that and the KO/punt return specialist may be in demand come the 2025 off season. Think there's potential that the value of these players increases dramatcially if we all of a sudden see an increase in TDs or long gains following kick offs (with the new rules).
I think Jookie might just be the best fisherman on this thread.

the steelers signed patterson almost within minutes of the rule being announced. coincidence? I doubt it.

He'll be stashed on the practice squad and maybe play the odd pre-season game for the next few seasons.

That would be my guess. Likely ends up back playing rugby in 2-3 years but your never know.

Would we expect this given his move to the int. pathway or is the fact he’s even made a roster (practice roster) a positive sign?

I think teams can have an overseas player on the practice squad for 'free' these days so there's pretty much no downside to them having him tag along.

Expansion of practice squads in 2024 includes each team having 1 international player (from IPP or elsewhere).

It’s not a given players from IPP make practice squad but scope of practice squads over recent years makes it much easier

Special teams would be his best path to make the team I'd guess?

Would it not be better to try these rugby lads in defense? Their tackling technique is usually very high but I guess it's maybe harder to learn defensive systems.

Interesting article on the guardian about him, https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2024/mar/28/louis-rees-zammit-nfl-kansas-city-chiefs-rugby#comment-167063140

… Although apparently his 40 yard dash was a 4.43 which at 209pounds or whatever he is is very good. So maybe he’s not the athletic dunce that the above suggests.

I remember when the Dolphins drafted him, excellent player, was part of a great young defensive backfield for a few years before he moved on. RIP Vontae

Not massively surprised, and not massively upset. He’s been great, but feels like the offense has needed a refresh and reckon Beane is looking at getting one in the draft. The 2nd rounder is from Vikings so likely better placed than if directly from Texans.

Bills to trade for Aiyuk maybe? If they are paying 31m for Diggs to play for Texans this year, they could offer 31m to Aiyuk for 2025

And for that reason I’d guess they’re more interested in cheaper drafted young receivers instead.

Think this year is about the Bills creating some cap room and getting younger. I don't think they need to trade up massively in the draft if it costs them too much draft capital, it's a deep WR class and outside of the top couple who likely won't be available there are no guarantees. I think getting a WR in the 1st and potentially a 2nd one later in draft with some defense would be ideal.

I'm excited to see Shakir get more opportunties next year.

The NFL informed clubs today it has revised the uniform policy to allow teams a third helmet design, per source.

This expansion was offered to the teams that were going through the re-design process for the 2024 season and is now open to all clubs for the 2025 season.

I'm not sure how I am about that. 2 seemed fine so that teams could use throwbacks but 3 just seems like marketing overkill.

The Lions have revealed new uniforms & i quite like them, out go the awful reverse alternate silver/blue combo, replaced by predominantly black uniforms, oh & back to old style block font too.

the lions gear is generally an improvement, though why they've only got stripes on one set of 'pants' is weird.

the jets gear is also generally an improvement though I did like their old number style

the texans leaked gear manages to both be boring and shit. the 'alternate' helmet looks crap as well

the broncos leaked gear looks like an improvement but that doesn't make them necessarily good

I quite like the new Jets uniforms, feels like traditional uniform look, but that collar is really weird [does the collar really need to be that big] i like they've got rid of New York lettering from the chest, they looked like a college team with that.

Be interesting to see if any of Aiyuk, Jefferson or Tee Higgins get traded before or during Thursday.

Deep draft for WRs so there may be some movement. Think Vikings would be looking for a 1st round pick minimum. Maybe a 1st plus other mid round picks. Think 49ers would want a 1st for Aiyuk. Might be get able if that pick is in latter half of 1st round.  Not sure about Higgins. Feels more like he’d get a late 1st or more likely a 2nd round pick as compensation for.

Suspect Aiyuk and Jefferson sign deals with existing teams but you never know
I think Jookie might just be the best fisherman on this thread.

Honestly can't remember an exciting draft...   call a name... show their family in prayer, they come up, put on a franchise cap and jersey, shake hands, take some photos, next team, call a name...   and then the constant speculation until September about how they will fit or play.

Strange pick considering the Falcons just paid Kirk Cousins $180 million 4 year contract a few weeks ago.

Also Penix is older than most of these guys and turns 24 in a few days so might be 26-27 before he’s starting in the league.

Penix was at 8 which is even worse. They could have gone for the best defensive player in the draft or at least given Cousins some support.
