Serie A Draft II - Matchday 4
« on: August 7, 2018, 12:43:17 am »
Matchday 3

Welcome to the second Seria A draft. This is an all time draft, which means any player who has played in Italy's top division is eligible to be picked provided they've played 50 + times (LEAGUE APPEARANCES). Performances and trophies won whilst in Italy only count's when it comes to voting. So Cristiano Ronaldo is shit in this draft

Red85                     vs                    Mikey LFC

       vs

And

PoP                     vs                     Trend/Chakan

       vs
Better looking than Samie.

More arrows needed on Dossenna. Can't figure out his position in the team.

Red85 and Mikey a narrow one for me. Red85's defence just seems a weak link as a unit, given there's a left-back in right central defence, and between Chivu, Fachetti (the god) and Lichsteiner, I could see Chiellini being abandonded several times per game. On the other hand, Zoff was a top keeper, so you'd have to be a special striker to get one past him.

And that's where Mikey has an edge, I think. If there's one Serie A striker of the "Serie A golden age" of the 80s/90s who could fashion a goal out any impossible angle, distance, packed defence or top class keeper, it was van Basten. With Tevez and Laudrup to help out, and a pack of mean bastards in Mihajlovic, Samuel and Sensini to defend, fronted but Simeone, there can only be one winner (narrowly, as this game would probably be a midfield-heavy 1-0).

In the second game, Trend/Chakan have fashioned a decent side - Cannavaro and Materazzi as solid as you like, DeRossi holding, Hamsik carrying the attack, Nedved creating and Higuain and Cavani (not the fastest, but lethal in the box) finishing the final ball.

But I have Dossena and Tomas "Where's the nearest Domino's, and do they deliver?" Brolin.

So f*ck them :D

Mikey has one of the best balanced sides in the draft.

I was thinking the same thing.

Mikey and the Chakantrend partnership.  Mikey, cause I think he gets to the semis.  And us because getting out of the first round means we get to keep our RAWK drafting bonus (cannot tell for privacy reasons what this is, but let me tell you all --- wait, I have to go).

I quiver at the question.   But if I am honest, I think Higuain's mid section and Cavani's forehead could sleep three including another target.

More arrows needed on Dossenna. Can't figure out his position in the team.

I can see one arrow is suggesting he'll be in a position to lob Dida in typical Dossena style.

Mikey has one of the best balanced sides in the draft.

Cheers. Think we've got the opportunity to be a solid defensive unit where needed whilst breaking quickly with the wing backs and pressing high up with Tevez and co. If needed we'll sit back keep a clean sheet and nick a goal via a Mihajlovic free kick (takes quite the free kick taker to take the duties away from van Basten but given Mihajlovic once scored a Serie A free-kick hat-trick and is level with Pirlo for most free-kicks scored in Serie A history, I think he is qualified. Once we are a goal up and the other side commit more players forward we'll be ready to tear them apart. Van Basten and Almeyda ready at any point to score a wonder goal.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqk0wnCNYtY

Almeyda's goal against Buffon no less. One of my all time favourites.

I also wouldn't want to come up against my side on a bad day. If they fall behind then the bastards at the back will be first to turn nasty, in true Serie A style. Safe to say my side are taking no prisoners.

Mikey's team is terrifying, easy win for him in the first one and I dunno what Lombardo is doing at centre mid, maybe should've swapped him with Sneijder?  Second match is more difficult to call, Chakan/Trend have a really nicely balanced team with quality everywhere, but I fail to see how they would be able to contain Dossena.

Dossena is a constant threat, but I think 10 v 1 would do it, leaving our keeper to score.

Mikey's got an ace team apart from I never really rated Samuel that much, or Mihajlovic apart from his freekicks. Lot of class in that lineup though. Think Red85 has been a touch unlucky mind, think that matchup was closer than the scoring suggests.

Dossena's arrows are brilliant. We've been privileged to get a glimpse inside the fevered brain of Colin Pascoe.

Got well and truly battered. Made a call to go with the pace of Sanchez instead of re-jigging my midfield and it seems to have cost me dearly. Think Mikey will go very far in this though.
So bloody what? If you watch football to be absolutely miserable then go watch cricket.
