Yep, that's true as well. I've always preferred Land of Hope and Glory...of course that portrays the imperalistic nature of Britain nicely as well, but it also has a more inspirational melody, because it builds up to a big finish. Our national anthem is rubbish, and just sort of stays rubbish...
The quality of the song You'll Never Walk Alone can never be questioned. I know pretty much nobody who doesn't like the song, even if they don't like the football connotations. As I said, You'll Never Walk Alone is a way of life. It tells you everything you need to know about Liverpool Football Club, that's for sure. Listening to the fans sing it in the injury time of that game tells you why today's defeat is just a blip. We will come back. You'll Never Walk Alone separates the true Liverpool fans from the fake ones. The fake ones were slagging off the players and the manager all through the game, slighting Andy Carroll at every opportunity. The real ones were always behind the team until the final whistle blew (and even after). That is what You'll Never Walk Alone means to me.
