nearly every game i have been to this season at home has been a draw! I hope this changes on saturday! We need a prolific strike like David Villa, Cavani, orrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Fernando Morientes? :)

On current form, maybe a win by a single-goal, or the result we dread most.....a draw :(

Warnock's going to have his side fired-up, no doubt about it, and they'll be up for the battle.

F*ck, just wish Saturday was here sooner.

Villa hasn't been that prolific since joining Barcelona. Sure, he may be playing LW, but his finishing has been poor. And there's no way Cavani is joining us...

I genuinely can't believe we're going into the Christmas fixture list behind Arsenal. With the start we enjoyed and the terrible fortune that came their way, I assumed we'd just stay ahead of them all season without too much of a fuss but we haven't even made it 'till the new year.

This is an absolute must win for us, as every game is.

Lets fucking smash Warnock into next century, with a smile on our faces.

We're shaken, Luis is tired and it shows, midfield crippled by injuries and anything but a victory might send us sliding.

Watched 4 games at home this season and 3 of them were draws (Swansea, City, Sunderland).  I know we have been playing decent football, but I've given up thinking that one of these days we'll hammer someone.  I think we are shellshocked over the loss of Lucas and now the awful loss to Fulham when we should have put them to bed a lot earlier.

I agree that Suarez potentially needs a rest.  Perhaps try Kuyt and Carroll from the start.  In truth I have no idea, but we need to keep in touch with the teams above us as there is a real danger they could cut us loose with some more missed chances.

Out of 6 games I've been to this year, only seen us win twice. Wolves at home and Chelsea away in the league. Haven't seen us lose though with draws against United, Norwich, Swansea and City. Let's change that this Saturday, Lads!

Yeah, 23 in 48 is terrible. Just terrible.

And Cavani won't even discuss terms with Liverpool on Football Manager because we aren't in Europe, which seems realistic enough to me.

I worry more about these type of game than I do against the likes of Man City or Chelsea.

I would love to see Bellamy and Maxi on the pitch again, they seem to do well together.

Why do we need an anchorman at home against QPR?

I wonder when the idea of playing with an anchorman at home will stop being looked upon as being negative? By extension, does this mean Lucas would only play the away games? We had all this stuff when Rafa was here, and the disillusioned minority cheered from the rafters because we'd finally be going all out with a 442 under the Owl.

Lucas gave us a platform. He stopped them, and gave the ball back to us. That anchorman bit into Mikel deep in their half and we had 6 players in forward positions. Still... lets attack with a 442. Wouldn't be surprised if we DID go 442 against QPR tho, as we don't have an anchorman now for a while. Do we have 2 central midfielders to do that tho? I don't think we have, not even if we had Lucas and Gerrard there IMO, but I guess it has a chance. We haven't seen them together for a while sadly.

Adam and Henderson? I'm not sure.

Under Rafa, you could could throw a net over various 'zones' on the pitch and 8/10 times you'd catch your target. Very different under Kenny. When the team sheets get put up, we can no longer imagine how we set up, and I like that. Henderson v Fulham wandered and drifted all over the park, and had a fine game - you can't do that in a 442.

I thought we'd line up with 5 at the back, and I wonder if we'll see that v QPR. 5 at the back!? At home?! V QPR!? You're mad. Well.. it's really 3, Agger Skrtel and Kelly, Enrique and Johnson wide, Maxi, Suarez and Bellamy ahead of Adam and Henderson. It might allow Henderson more room to drift around and we've got the movement up front.

Because an Anchor man allows other players to go forward without as much defensive responsibility..

Just because a team has an anchor man in it doesnt mean its a defensive set up.

But if Suarez picks up a two match ban for the incident on Monday night, will that ban come into effect before this weekend? I don't know why but I have a feeling if he plays on Saturday there's a goal or two in it for him...

I'd have thought we'd go 4-5-1 or even 4-2-3-1 in an attempt to keep a solid screen in front of the back four. As discussed on this page, this doesn't have to be negative, if it means the forward players ( those in front of the ball rather than set positions) can worry about where to run and where to stretch play rather than having to come back to help out an overstretched defender.
"All the lads have been talking about is walking out in front of the Kop, with 40,000 singing 'You'll Never Walk Alone'," Collins told BBC Radio Solent. "All the money in the world couldn't buy that feeling," he added.

Why do we need an anchorman at home against QPR?

Why don't we take the game to them?

I know what you are saying but thats not how football works.  If we don't have someone in a deep role then you allow players to go 1 on 1 with our defenders, which maybe ok because Agger and Skittle are doing well at the moment but you will also give players between the line a bit of time to get a shot in.  The deep midfield is more that a defender he is someone who can keep the play moving and allow flair players a bit more freedom.

I would like to see

                         Reina

Kelly      Skittle      Agger     Enrique

                   Henderson
             Adam             Maxi
Bellamy           Kuyt              Suarez

Poss swap Bellamy for Downing.

And I'll go 3-1 with Kuyt, Maxi and Suarez all getting goals

Unfortunately Henderson cannot tackle. Nor does he have the aggressiveness/bravery to bully people off the ball.

Well said. Barcelona play with an anchorman (Busquet), Real play with Khedira, City play with Barry/Yaya.  The anchorman is fast becoming one of the critical positions on the field.  It gives you stability in defense and a trigger point for your offense.  There are not too many people who do it as well as Lucas, so he will be missed. But playing with an anchorman is not necessarily negative.  If you play with two DMs and one more attacking midfielder (Think Lucas, Spearing + Adam) vs one DM with two AM (Lucas + Adam and Stevie), then you can say that is defensive.

As for QPR we have no DMs, but I still think we should play with 5 in the middle. Usual back four; Hendo, Adam; Kuyt, Maxi, Bellamy; Suraez

Yes, you're expected to win all your home games and it's disappointing when you don't - but I think this is our first proper must win of the season. No other result will do, otherwise we are in a really bad position for getting onto the top 4.  Spurs are already 11 ahed if they win their GIH and Arsenal and Chelsea are going to be tough to dislodge now.

Sticking your middle finger up at fans is a more severe case in my opinion. Just like Rooney swearing directly into a camera at West Ham last season. I hope he doesn't pick up a ban but I'd be surprised if the FA didn't act.

I know it has been asked and nobody knows, but if Aurelio is actually fit, then we may as well get our 60 minutes before he is injured again out of him and play him as part of a midfield 3 with Adam and Henderson. Enough passing ability and vision there to deal with QPR, even without any sort of real DM.

I'm a huge believer in the defensive midfielder. To me, it's the most important role in the modern football team. A typical good player in this position will intercept, tackle and find the space and time to move the ball forward.
But I think we should not play a "defensive" midfielder against QPR. Play 5 in midfield with two traditional midfielders who are mobile and energetic (can Adam do this?), two widemen and one in the hole. Of course I would play Lucas if he was fit, but I think we should go on the front foot and hopefully my tactics wouldn't backfire.

oh lets wait for the 3-0, 5-0, 6-0 predictions and then if its a draw...Kenny, Carroll, Sureaz, Adam they're all fucking useless drivel

Seems some folks aren't waiting for a draw before they have a pop at Andy...
