People holding the flag are all HJC.

Gillian McNulty, Becky Shah, Ste Wright, John McDonnell, Phil (Anna's other half), and Alan Dixon.

Just read some sad news that Alan Dixon died earlier in the week.  It's now on the HJC facebook page and quite a few on this forum know him.  A survivor of the day who never fully recovered, but carried the HJC fight and a great lad by all accounts.

RIP lad, thoughts and prayers with family.
For those not on Facebook, the post reads:

The death of Alan Dixon (Dicko) has saddened us all at the HJC. Alan was a passionate campaigner whose searing honesty stood in sharp contrast to the lies churned out over many years. A teenager at the time of the disaster, he never recovered from his experiences of that day. He was passionate about the Sun boycott and was highly vocal of those close to the disaster whom he thought had compromised in the fight for justice. Alan, like a lot of us, refused to acknowledge an understanding of compromise. He stood shoulder to shoulder with his fellow campaigners at the HJC and bravely faced the opposition head on. He hated 'brand Hillsborough' and the emerging celebrity culture surrounding Hillsborough that some bought into. The HJC will continue to fight for the real truth in memory of Alan and will continue to give a voice to all survivors who remain the forgotten victims of Hillsborough. RIP Alan Dixon.

Sad.

any mods seeing this.. any chance these tributes could be moved to the thread on the main board to pay respects to Dicko? seems a shame to have them hidden in this subforum, with limited views and on a divisive topic like that old banner we were chatting about

nobody is crying, just laughing at the desperation of certain people on here to justify the unjustifiable on that banner (and no it's nothing to do with Everton and food banks), just like those bringing up bill shankly quotes from the 60s to justify that embarrassment

Why have you added the last (bolded) bit when you know full well - as does everyone else with any modicum of knowledge about Liverpool FC and their messiah manager - that Bill's socialism, which wasn't in any way, shape or form "desperate", was absolutely spot on and from the heart? Why should it not be repeated? Especially inside the very ground he graced so well!

because those two losers added to that banner would have embarrased him for starters, had they actually given a fuck about the lives of others they'd have long gone instead of being the greatest thing that ever happened to the Tories.

Well that's your opinion of course. Mine happens to be at variance with yours.
Bill's philosophy on life and socialism was born out of real struggle. I value and share the simplicity of his beliefs in both football and in life because they were and still are unchanging. A hero for the people at a time when not many up-and-comers in the game gave much of a shite. One of his most famous simple quotes which I love is "I'm a people man - only the people matter". Says it all for me.

If anyone criticises Johnno White's opinions they are essentially attacking Bill Shankly. So tread carefully friends.

Who is this Bill Shankly fella anyway? I suppose we should be grateful that this Manchester United fan has graced our forum to tell us all about him.

on display today  ;D

Cracking banner that.

Saw this from the City Of Liverpool play-off Final on Saturday...

who says football and politics can't mix, eh?

and who'd have thought a banner with a small picture of the leader of the Labour Party on - amongst some great causes - would cause so much fuss at a football match... oh hang, on it didn't, just on RAWK - and from the usual anti-Corbyn posters.

Nothing much to see here then apart from the usual anti-Corbyn posters having a pop and twisting the words and opinions at those who disagree with them.

And some top banners, of course :D

Anyway, up the Purps for the Cup Final later today :)
