Reason you're temporarily in the lead?
Wholey - Assists - 1164.80
Portland - Assists - 792.40
Yeah I know.  ;D God knows how many points the Assists are worth but it is what is keeping me in first place.

Can you honestly be proud, winning with a team full of out of position utility players like Inge and Mackowiak?  And Roberts will come back down to earth sooner or later.

And you honestly wouldn't take any of those 3 players?

Well probably not Mackowiak as I have just rode his recent success.

Inge was a shrewd move, saw that he was eligable as a Catcher even though he was playing 3rd Base so I took him on.

Roberts probably will come back down to Earth soon, but they've said that about a lot of players in the past so I'm quite happy to keep him in my side.

I'll just excuse you doing the same with Berkman though. ;)

My time will come but for a British lad who only learnt the rules of baseball two years ago and only gets to see one game per week, I'm doing bad.  :P

To be honest, I don't care about winning as long as I come above Liz.

What's this about Berkman?
2003 OPS - .927
2004 OPS - 1.016
Career OPS - .971
Current OPS - .858

He's underpreforming.

Me thinks it might be an idea to amend the stat modifier for assists.

Too late for that sort of thing IMO, Wholey and others seem to have made plenty of decisions based on the current modifiers.  Maybe if changing the modifier only effected future assist totals?
Although I wouldn't complain, it'd move me up in the standings quite a bit :D

I would think like that usually but something tells me the NL pitching could carry them home.

That occured to me straight after I'd posted. Just felt that with a strong red sox (my team) presence, the AL will nick it. Besides which in the all star game a pitcher never really gets an opportunity to get his arm in.

True but its still important. Anyway looking down the NL . Abreu will be bouyed by his amazing performance last night.  Beltran wants the big stage thats why he moved to NY. Pujols is a machine.  Im not sure whos playing 1st base in Lees place but hes a big miss!

I just dont think its as one sided as many are making out.

Clemens
Smoltz
Willis

Thats a rotation to die for.

If they get him back "just before" the playoffs he won't be eligible to participate though. I doubt it'll happen although Steinbrenner is a desperate man these days. Either way they're not winning the WS this year   .   .   guaranteed.

The AL now seem to dominate the All Star Game but when I was younger it was the NL who completely dominated. Another example of things being cyclic in the world of sport.
