Yeah, unless stipulated, the contract would be deemed frustrated and all parties released of obligations, so it depends on whether there’s any terms set out in advance in the contract.

I agree. I think it's very naive people blaming Nantes for demanding payment.

They are a smaller club who deffo factor sales money into other plans and the running of the club so they might genuinely need it, people saying "it's only £15M they don't need it" must think all clubs are as rich as PL clubs.

You also have to factor in that the people who play for and work at Nantes actually knew Sala pretty well and so would be more affected by the crash. For Cardiff to say Nantes are being insensitive is in itself extremely insensitive.

I live in Guernsey the story was huge here. I was watching the footie on tele the night it happened and live near the harbour and a search chopper was flying very low around by my house and which was very odd then the next day the story broke which explained it. They've only found 1 body so far so the other is either in the plane or who knows where it could be. The sea is very rough here today so salvaging the aircraft is near on impossible apparently I think they'll be waiting until the Summer months before bringing it up, could be a long time to wait for whichever side of the family is still missing a body to lay to rest and explanation as to what happened.

Judging by what's in the media, there was only one body on the plane. Whichever poor lad it is, they've got that body from the plane already, but haven't confirmed who it is.

except he was a Cardiff player when he was in the crash and the plane wasn’t anything to do with Nantes so not really sure how Cardiff can get out of it as he was their player and they agreed to pay Nantes, I mean if I sell you a car for £2k (£100 for 20 months) and a few days later a tree falls on it and writes it off you still have to pay me the money either by your funds or insurance

ah right, suppose it would be different if it was a flight organised between the player and the club as opposed to the club and the agent, so I’d guess the agent could have a problem here

If he hadn't died with a professional footballer, his death would have got a brief mention in a local paper and no one would remember his name. It cuts both ways.

I heard someone say before they wished it was the pilot they found as they still would have searched for the player with the extra privately funded searches, now maybe it’ll take a lot longer.

Both are just as important as each other though of course, so hopefully they continue to search for the pilot with as much effort as the family will be grieving just as much.
