Jese misses a sitter. Both him and Delufeu have been Spain's worst players.

Suso is great with the ball, but his position off the ball seems lacking.

Delufeu is off for Suarez. I want Gerard to succeed, but no way he should go on loan to Everton, Spurs, Valencia etc. He will be so down in the pecking order, he won't see any game time. Extremely erratic and raw, terrible decision making in this tourney.

Spain keeper looks like he broke his nose after saving a shot and hitting the bar with his face.

Looked bad, but he walked off so.. we'll see.

This Spanish team is much worse than the one in 2011. If they end up winning, it will be due to them being lucky many times during this tourney. Uruguay should have scored there.

Spain have been crap in the second half. They don't have a good striker even in this level.

I've got a feeling that Origi is the real deal, from a couple of games I watched but mainly his interviews there seems to be something about him.

Came here to post something like this, but my thought was that he should just want the ball more. And that's the case with Suso all the time.

delofelou reminds a bit of arjen robben. Not quite as fast or good at striking shots, but not as bad at making decisions either.

Uruguay score from corner. Spain have been a bit shit with walking around the pitch, but they weren't worse than Uruguay. They feel it's unfair, but they had their chances.

Spanish coach Lopetegui is going crazy now. I don't understand this, they were playing better for 90 minutes and he was there standing doing nothing. Now he is going apeshit.

Spain are out. They were decent in group stage games, but they were not good vs Mexico or Uruguay. Didn't deserve to win it anyway.

From Barca perspective, Delufeu is not anywhere near ready for the first team. Uncharacteristically poor on the ball and decision making wise. Second Tello.

Delufeu is ridiculous at the moment. Cannot play on the left wing, all he does is cut in and lose the ball.
I hate that kind of classical winger. They need to have their day. They are absolutely useless otherwise.

This -the U20 is clearly the worse Spanish NT by a mile.

Lopetegui is really shit.

Oliver looked fantastic as usual.

The goal:

"I look at him doing all sorts of crazy shit and mostly I burst out laughing at his insane genius.
I mean, if his first reaction to a ball bouncing in front of him 40 yards from goal is 'I'm going to whack this into the net from here', you just have to laugh at the sheer improbability of it all."

Whilst I don't think Lopetegui is "pure shit", he is a bit average. Has done nothing to change the games throughout the competition.

As for the titles, Spanish youth teams are usually really good. Last U21 manager was Luis Milla, who won the Euro U21 competition in 2011. Then went into Olympic Games 2012 as a big favorite, but his team was ridiculously bad and they got embarrassed. Lopetegui is better than Milla, but just how good he is? When you are managing sides with Mata, Martinez, Thiago, Isco, De Gea etc., it's difficult to judge.

But what everybody clearly saw in this FIFA U20 world cup is that Spain were very fortunate to beat Mexico. They were poor vs Ghana and USA, too. He had about 4 warnings, but he didn't fix anything. Of course it is not his fault that Spain didn't score after so many chances vs Uruguay. Unlucky, yes, but his team was superior and a better manager could have got a better result.

Can we all agree that Spain isn't the best thing since sliced bread now?

I could care less for U21 Euro championships.. they haven't won the most important youth tournament.. Spain is just a case of feeding off their best generation ever. People think its easy to breed another Xavi, Iniesta, etc. Another 20 years without any major Spanish title ahead

Ignore u21's completely. Claim Spain won't win anything for 20 years. At best, your argument is incomplete.

Of all the players in the u-20 squad only Oliver looks like he's nailed on to make it at the highest level as of now.Suso was decent.Don't get the hype surrounding Jese.Don't want to be too critical though, all very young and raw.But the Uruguayans surely do have some proper defenders. Some of those last ditch blocks were superb.Impressed with the kid Laxalt.France look the favourite now.

I understand the urge  to write it all off as shit because it's only Iraq and South Korea...

But what an exciting match!  :wave Reasonable technical standards from both sides, and plenty of commitment to winning matches rather than attempting to look good to get a big contract...

Koreans looked awfully confident and well-practised against Colombia when it went to pennos, pretty sure the Koreans will move on. Well done by the Iraqis, though, for certain...

True, unbelieavable how well they have performed. Nobody gave them a chance when they were in the same Group as Ingerlund. They managed to top the group with relative ease and have not look back since then. Hope they can go all the way.

Despite repeatedly overlooked by the media, the Iraqi senior side won the Asian Cup not that long ago, I am happy to see them making their way up to the final stages.

I remember seeing Iraq play Australia with largely an U21 side. They looked pretty good so not surprised those players have done well here.
