Nunez does everything except a goal so far, really good

Trent is more Trent than ever, with his brilliant passing and defensive horror shows

Nunez was offside on both goals even if they had been ruled out by VAR and not the linesman its nothing to complain about.

Ref decisions are different story though.

To be fair, Collins got the touch on the ball before he went through Nunez. But Tierney’s still a c*nt.

Incorrect, Collins got nothing of the ball.

Not seen a replay of that challenge on Nunez at the end yet. It looked a clear red. Did he get the ball?

the linesman flagged both as offside so not sure how that works

The first one was so close, he couldn't have seen it with the naked eye.

The matip booking was ridiculous, but other than that I dont see much wrong. The Jota situation didnt look like a pen to me, far too little on that

VAR is being implemented like trash. Utterly subjective and doesn’t work when you have bent, incompetent fuckers running it. Some of our own supporters holding us up to a higher standard than the rest of our rivals also sucks.

To use a dry analogy, it’s like a piece of enterprise software. Implemented well it can transform a company. Implemented poorly it can ruin it.

We have been good yes but that doesn't distract from Tierney's blatant dislike of us. Can't fucking stand the sight of the c*nt.
Not being funny but that might be the best reffing performance for us all season😂, as the others have been horror shows

Pathetic refereeing. If the foul by Jota in their area was a free kick then the previous one on him was a penalty……be consistent.

Matip booked for showing frustration at a poor decision. That should never be a yellow; a good referee would simply have a quiet word.

Brilliant interception by Matip to regain possession for the goal. If he had got that wrong then it was a 2nd yellow which just shows how pathetic it was to give the first yellow. Brilliant goal and finishing.

I’m still concerned at our defending and making crucial tackles. TAA messed up in the area, Matip with a poor header and TAA not marking his man when last defender. Tsimikas made 3 mistakes and all lead to Brentford attacks. On one occasion when he was out of position he jogged back when he should have sprinted back.

Nunez, Gakpo and Szoboszlai played well as did VVD. We should not be relying on Alisson to bail us out when we cannot defend.

Tierney stopping us taking a quick free kick. Stopping the game for a “head injury” when it clearly wasn’t; if the game is stopped then the played shoukd have to go off for an assessment.

The two offsides were ok. The first one, Nunez’s big toe was off which is frustrating. He was offside for the 2nd but the law is daft as he came back from an offside position and didn’t gain any advantage.

Ref is shite.

If Matip commits the softest of fouls now the fuss will be why he wasn't sent off (or Tierney will anyway).

Maybe because they've got the safety net of VAR, the assumption is that linesman flag for anything that looks close rather than letting super tight ones stand. The second is clearly offside, but nobody thinks that first one is with the naked eye without lines.

There was a yellow card there, right? Then he has to stop the play.

He couldn't have played the advantage and brought it back after the ball next went out of play? Did he absolutely have to stop it to give it then? Fair enough if so, I was genuinely unsure.

Should really be at least 2 up if Salah puts that other one away or gets the right pass to Nunez who has been scintillating. Really good performance on the ball today.

Jota wrested to ground in penalty area on 13' from a corner; Tierney gives foul against Jota - (still looking for a clip - anyone?)

Nunez disallowed goal (offside) on 23' - https://twitter.com/Davinx_01/status/1723708725674873185 & https://twitter.com/Fans_Arena4/status/1723708683274649674

Nunez disallowed goal (offside) on 27' - https://twitter.com/Fans_Arena4/status/1723709936373248249 & https://cazn.me/m/11ccfe

Matip booked for being fouled (Tierney gives freekick against Matip somehow; then books Matip for reaction) - https://v.redd.it/zvs81zgmjxzb1

Salah goal on 39' - https://dubz.co/c/4510d8 & https://twitter.com/FootColic/status/1723712697164832816 & https://twitter.com/TransferSector/status/1723712508777636125

Tierney being a biased Manc twat he always is, and always will be, throughout our match today - though the offsides given by the linesman / VAR were actually correct...

Nunez offside on 23':-

Nunez offside on 27':-

Incorrect, Collins got nothing of the ball.

They showed it on the replay before the half. Collins got the foot on the ball after the Nunez touch.

He got the ball, hence why Salah was upset walking off the pitch at HT because he slightly misplaced the pass.

Correct, Darwin kicked the ball against his foot so it looked like he got something on it. I'd be looking for the VAR to check it, and if they did then I'm curious as to why they waved play on.

Nunez is class.

Tsimikas … when’s Robbo back?

If midfield start winning their duels we’ll pin them in much more and that 2nd goal will come much quicker. Becoming a theme that.

Nunez is class.
thought Tsimkas has been ok today, Vast improvement from the midweek game

The first one was so close, he couldn't have seen it with the naked eye.

It’s one of them where if Núñez and the defender swap places, the linesman doesn’t flag it. He flags it as all he can see is the red of Núñez and none of the Brentford defender, as Núñez is closer to him.

pre VAR and we're 3-0 up, and game over  :no

Didn't celebrate any of the goals, what's the point, totally sucking the joy outta the game

Really feel for Nunez, should be going for his hat trick 2nd half.

Well, not exactly. Pre-VAR we'd still be exactly where we are because the assistant ref signalled offside for both.

The tackle at the end on Nunez, the defender clearly got the ball. Credit a great covering tackle when it happens.

But we should have had a couple of penalties for both fouls on Jota, and, of course, whatever the hell that was with Matip

Ajer terrible challenge on Jota, could have been a red. They also should have checked the Collins challenge on Nunez at the end. Atwell not getting involved on VAR but neither were blatant errors, but we almost never get any "marginal" decisions in our favour. The Matip yellow was a ridiculous decision and has turned the crowd on Tierney, if Matip gets sent off there will be uproar.

Other than that and we have played well especially Nunez. We really should be further ahead, lots of opportunities particularly the Salah one near the end. We need the second goal as we still look a bit vulnerable at the back. Tsimikas, Endo and Trent all looking a bit shaky so a few goals from us would help settle the nerves.

It looked like the defender just got the ball but as usual they barely showed it. If it had been the other way round they would have replayed it and replayed it until they found that it should have been red.

What on earth were they looking at Tsimikas’s challenge earlier when Nunez was offside. It was well before the goal plus the Brentford player had his foot as high as Tsimikas but Tsimikas had the ball. Are they looking for the slightest “grey area” to chalk off a goal?
