Another couple I own. I sold the two Rolex, as I missed the watches I sold to buy them.

Breitling Avenger Seawolf Titanium

Steinhart, a small but well known German manufacturer with Swiss 7750 Automatic movement.

Another Steinhart, with Swiss 2824-2 Auto movement.

Gave up in the end. Had my heart set on this one. I know it's from a designer but I preferred the look of this one. Other ones were too expensive for things I dont need i.e. 1000m diving etc...when the fuck am i going to go diving. Even if I did i wouldn't wear something that cost me soooo much just in-case

My one:

Cost about 300 Euros 5 or 6 years ago. And that was only because my girlfriend at the time worked in the jewellers. Now available for £100. I absolutely love it as it's the only watch, (or jewellery) I've ever been able to wear. It's titanium and if I wear anything else I get a rash. This ones for life me thinks.

Edit: Just noticed this isn't quite like mine. Mine has two gold seams running through the strap.

I meant to add, I usually wear a Citizen Eco-Drive Chronograph (blue face, three dials, stainless steel band) that I bought about 10 years ago.  Keeps time just fine, although I dropped it once several years ago and the date and chronograph functions are now slightly off.  I might have gotten them fixed but the thought of mailing it away for a few weeks just to get quoted a sum to have functions I'm not even arsed about repaired seems rather pointless.

I want the next watch I buy to be something really special.

I don't think I'll ever understand why people pay serious money for watches that aren't made by serious watch companies.

I know plenty of people who've spent big money on watches from fashion designers, and invariably the wathes have been utter shit. Even relatively cheap watches. A friend bought a Fossil watch at the outlet for about 60 quid, and pretty though it was, by the time we'd ridden back home (two hours), it was already falling apart.

I suppose it's related to the "Porsche bike" phenomenon where the name is far more important that actual quality.

I have 8 Fossil watches, and have been buying them for the past 3 years or more.

They are perfect for unexpensive, fashionable watches. I have several friends who own Fossil pieces off the back of my collection and I don't know of any of them that have 'fallen to pieces' yet. I would imagine your experience was a one-off?

They are beautiful watches IMO. Really well made and for the money you pay for one, good value.

I have this (got it when my dad died 6 years ago)

had this before he died:

I never wear the Oris - I wear the Rolex to have my dad with me everyday but for some weird reason I cannot sell the Oris as it was my first own automatic... I'll probably never wear another watch than the Rolex.

The Tissot is battery. Can't you take them to a watch doctor or a jewelers? Drop it off, pick it up in an hour, battery changed.

Worked in a jewellers for a few years. Got myself a nice Citizen titanium eco drive (solar powered) for not much over a ton quite a few years back. I think Citizen offer a 5 year gaurantee now. I forgot to take it off in the gym once and cracked the glass last year and by the time you spend £80 on replacing the glass it'd work out better buying a new watch.

Good reliable make and some styish ones too.

Ahhh, watches, the stuff that make men realize that they are not rich enough. At least they do for me! I got a Tissot PRC200 from my girlfriend on my birthday and I absolutely love the watch. Nothing flashy, just simple plane watch (I didnt go for the chronograph, as I like it plane better) Having said the Movado watch posted by someone earlier is a piece of a real beauty. Thumbs up to the gear showing Breitling too!

Which Cartier mate? I mean there's a HUGE difference between Hublot's very masculine and sporty look to Cartier's more dress watch like style. Do you have big hands that can wear a big watch like Hublot or is it too big for you? What Hublot is it you've got?
