Whoever we got was going to be a gamble, Alonso included. We've had years of stability, a world class manager who built a world class team so there's always going to be a challenge to keep that going, just look at United and Arsenal for a clear example.

One thing is for sure, he won't succeed unless everyone unites behind him. So let's do that and see where it takes us!

To say Ibou is 'Pretty good' is very disingenuous in my opinion, until recently, he was regarded by many of being the best young centre back in Europe (justifiably in my opinion).

His fitness issues have been very frustrating and I think his very recent form has been poor, but how quickly we forget what he's like at his best (see Arsenal FA cup tie for reference). I think it's absolutely mental that people want him sold, he's a brilliant player and will only get better as he approaches his prime. Hopefully we can help him to solve his fitness issues.

General Football and Sport / Re: NBA Discussion

Kevin Durant is arguably the most overrated superstar in NBA history. Apart from his tenure with the Warriors' super team and those free rings, he hasn't achieved much. Instead, he's faced humiliating defeats in the playoffs, and it seems another sweep is incoming. While his talent can't be questioned, he consistently fails to deliver or overperform when it comes to getting his team over the line.

The less the charges are mentioned the better for the product that is the PL. Doesn't look good if they keep talking about them having 115 charges to their name.

There's also most definitely pressure from somewhere to not talk about them as much as possible.

And sky with their annual peddling of ‘what a title race we have’, before city cruise to their latest title.

He is a beast of a CB but if we continue to play him as if he is a ball-playing center back, then he is just going to be an inconsistent failure. His passing is pretty poor, and his vision for a forward pass is non-existent.  So many times, it's tough watching him try to play the wrong pass, under hit, over hit, running with the ball forward and then turning back or losing the ball. It's much better to have Quansah perform this role than Konate.

Daft busy week, so only seen one frame of snooker so far (Trump v Ford), but just seen the list of fallers at the first: Brecel, Williams, Carter, Selby, Hawkins and Ding amongst them. Some big names gone already. Stroll in the park for Ronnie this year?

7 Hag’s biggest issue came because of his pursuit of Frenkie de Jong, something that was completely driven by 7 Hag and left them reeling at the end of the window when he finally gave up. Quite why he thought de Jong would come I don’t know, Barca were trying to force him out and he still didn’t want to play there, it was well reported that ETH was happy to continue waiting for the situation to play out when those at United would have moved on a bit quicker. Once that failed and the season started disastrously, they were scrambling, they end up paying double/triple the market value for Antony and they give Madrid the deal of a lifetime for a Casemiro with serious mileage in his legs.

A similar type of approach ends up burning them in his second summer, they want Kane but he goes to Bayern, they panic and buy Hojlund a couple of years too early, they can’t get rid of Maguire and McTominay and they end up doing the panic of all panics for Amrabat at the death of the window. It was two windows eerily similar to when David Moyes took over, time wasted chasing players that were never joining and eventually panic buying players that the manager knew would at least listen to him, regardless of their actual level.

I imagine we have a plan for this window, bringing Slot in means we can continue with our profile of player for most positions, we can continue to aim U-25 and we’re pretty well versed in spotting a dickhead now so character assessments should be spot on.

Meh friendly or to impress the new manager. Might be worth some of these players showing some fight.

Score predictions …. Does it matter?
