Villa are set up really well and agreed with a few shouts on here that we look like we're feeling the pressure. Trent's passing is a bit off and Villa are so compact we're struggling really. Looks like one of those days for us so far.

The referee has been atrocious. He has bought every single dive by Villa. They have been going down before the tackle comes in and the referee has given every non-foul to them. Not sure why it wasn’t a penalty to us as it was a foul……outside of the area the referee would have given a foul.

Those changed the flow of the game. We were a little fortunate that Henderson didn't get booked for stopping a counter and Fab for totting up.

Villa's high line is giving us opportunities, we're not executing them. Too many player pushed too high against their back line, not enough (vertical) movement, poor execution on some relatively straightforward forward passes.

For starters we didn't have control at any point that half.

Constantly trying to go for Hollywood passes over the top of their defence time & time again.

The reason why we've won 7 in 7 games prior to this has been our ability to control games, patience, constantly probing - we saw none of that in the first 45 mins.

The ref has been dreadful to both teams:

- Mings should be off
- Hendo & Fabinho both should have been booked

It was a pen, Konate didn't get the ball.

I do however think the Villa goal shows how silly the current offside rule is.  You can't tell me Watkins isn't influencing play with his positioning.

Let's hope we start playing football this half.  We need a second half like against Arsenal at home & the crowd need to be the 12th man.

So did Mings. Doesn't matter if the action endangers the opponent. Jota dangled his leg, Mings had force behind his: what saved him from the red, I think, was that he dipped it right at the last moment (scraping Gakpo's chest, mind).
