I wonder how much they banked on selling Pickford or Onana this summer. Nobody seems interested in either, and I can't see Fulham offering a significant amount for Demarai Gray. Joyce mentioned a few days ago that Everton inquired about Che Adams, who surely would be a Maupay 2.0, although I'm sure their fans would appreciate that Everton is his middle name (born not manufactured)

I'm sure they'd take Adams over Maupay, I can't think of many worse finishers than him in recent times, he's fucking dreadful.

When I think about Everton now I just see Stoke or Burnley, their brand of football kept them in the league, pretty hard to flush but in the end they went.

Mad to think of that giddiness they had not so long back, they were fucking rich! Ancelotti at the helm, winning the transfer window. Life came at them fast bless them

They gave him that new contract to protect his transfer value, and nobody's come in for him. They were probably expecting United to be in for him, but then they've gone and signed Andre Onana instead - who looks to be just as much of a comedy act.

The only clubs who would be vaguely interested now are the mid tier ones, like West Ham or Palace, but even if someone throws in a bid I doubt they would meet Everton's asking price. They'll probably want something like £50m for him.

He's in a awkward position where he'd be too expensive for anyone but the top clubs but not in a profile most of the top clubs look for. I reckon he'll regret that new contract in a year or two, apparently did it for more money and to help Everton get a fee for him. Kind of what Max Allister did for Brighton except without the smart release clause

While I've got your attention Titi, and while we're on the subject of threads, is the previous-to-last Everton thread - not the last one which you just locked but the one before that  -still available?

As I recall it was locked and possibly deleted after the Siggurdsson stuff broke and some idiots would not stop posting about it, but it had loads of amazing content in it, and it seems a shame to have lost it all because of a few incontinent morons.

If it's still around in a recycle bin or something any chance it can be reinstated minus any unwanted posts?

I've been ill for the last week and have been cheering myself looking through the last Everton thread (some hilarious stuff in there, esp from Capon), but could not find the thread previous to that, which I think contained some of my first tentative posts as a member here in it, lol.

Ahhh, if only Pickford wasn't from Sunderland, as it rules out Saudicastle.

Just goes to show though, he's only England's #1 by default. If Pickford was truly any good, he wouldn't still be playing for a club that's barely escaped relegation two seasons running. As you say, the only potential moves available to him would be effectively sideways ones, and no club in that bracket will pay what Everton want for him.

That said, given the way Chelsea spend money there's hope for Everton and Pickford yet!

Looking at their squad list, there’s desperately few players they could jettison for good money if they needed to accumulate funds quickly, say for a massive looming tax bill.

Branthwaite, Godfrey, Pickford, McNeill and Onana are probably the only ones you could reliably say would get them £20m per player. Their squad is desperately thin on the ground quality wise. They should have sold Calvert-Lewin when he was fit and they were talking £50m+.

I’d love to see them drop down the plug hole but I can’t see them doing worse than 17 other teams. Luton’s squad and signings says to me ‘protect the PL payday then Bank the parachute payments to grow the club long term and help pay for the new stadium, which we’ll play Championship football in.’ Sheffield Utd’s owner wants rid, has only given them £20m as a summer budget and has sold off their best attacker, without increasing their budget from the sale proceeds.

Then, Burnley are an unknown quantity who’s goalscoring record won’t translate to the PL, Fulham aren’t certain of keeping Mitrovic, Wolves have sold off their best two players etc.

Everton will survive due to the challenges others face as opposed to their own competence.
