iPlayer should have it on.
But looking at that line-up I haven't bothered to check.

Come on Jools get your arse in gear, live isn't a gimick that means you can settle for mediocre acts.

t'was nice seeing him.

But that was about it on the niceness wasn't it?

Super-critical mode...
...as Degs said the live-ness was used as a gimmick. Especially as it never seemed like a heavily editted show anyway.

...Adele. Seriously, why? No presence, no passion, she looks like someone who's got a good voice and bloody well knows it and thinks it's enough. No, you're cack
...Estelle. Not to my taste at all so I can't criticise as I don't know what I'm talking about, but I didn't enjoy it
...Black Kids. I was looking forward to seeing them but was massively underwhelmed.
...Only Ones. Wow, it's that song from that phone ad. But longer. And not very good.

...half an hour? What's that all about. Should have been the full hour we're used too.
...Lenny Henry. Enough said.

Missing the word "unfortunatley" in there.

I'm all for having a live show but if it's at a cost to the caliber of performers then it's nothing more than a gimmick to try and bump up the ratings rather than showcasing some great musical talent.

James Taylor is good I'll give him that.  But Adele what the fuck?

And cutting it to half an hour so they can have a better slot shows it's all about the ratings and not about the music.

Relax mate!

Okay yes I know them now, happy?
I wasn't 'parading ignorance' at all and if you saw my cd collection
you'd know that, the rest of the acts on the show I've never listened
to or heard of to the best of my knowledge and that is unusual when it comes
to the JH show.

It was shite I thought. A complete gimmick and I can't for the life of me think why they thought it up. There was nothing at all wrong with the format as it was.

No complaint with who was on, thats the bast thing about the show. You get totally different music all in one room. Sometimes you are introduced to something you otherwise wouldnt have bothered with or noticed.

As for the new half our live    it    is    wank!
The sky does not know of east or of west;
it is in the minds of men where such distinctions are made, and then they believe them to be true.

I can't stand Jools Holland or the lame MOR acts that populate his shows, for a music show i find the whole program incredibly safe and more than a little smug, there's no sense of danger about it never mind something out of the ordinary happening, bring back the tube it was light years better than this safe aimed at middle england crap.

A bit harsh. He usually has a good spread of world music and newer artists like Jcob Golden. Too much R&B for me at times but then they're trying top please a whole range of music and nobody likes everything.

I've not been watching this, but stumbled across this week's on iplayer. The attraction in bold was what drew me in. Thought they were utterly brilliant; very tight sounding band, and the menace of the record translated perfectly. A few months on and the album still sounds fantastic.

Saw them in the Korova a couple of months ago.  When they get it right they're doing good things with a strange Glaswegian slant on the Phil Spector wall of sound thing.  At the moment I'd say they still have too much filler as compared to killer, but watch this space.

Very good mate,  just read on wiki they've signed a major record deal and are currently recording their first album in New York.

That's what I said when they were on last night, a wall of sound. It reminded me of nothing particularly specific from the heyday of indie.... Ride as an example.

Sound was okay. They had the whole Jesus and Mary Chain thing going on with the standing up snare drumming, black cloths etc. It's all been done before but they were listenable.

Yes but they have one artist who only does 1 track and that's on the Friday show, Chris Difford last week for example
