oh also, i loved it when 5'10" Lucas outmuscled the 6'4" and much bulkier yaya toure and retrieved the ball, and then toure turned around to the ref to complain about it to no avail

That tackle in the second half in the centre circle where he slid in, stretched around the City lad and won the ball and got up with it was quality.

He was immense today.

Beast.
I trust the King, but if we lose a few more on the trot now - he may have to step aside, and we have to purchase another manager in the middle of the season. If we are relegated, this could be the end of our ambitions to win any title the next 100 years.

Best Defensive mid in the premiership.

Wouldnt class him as a centre mid really as he defends farrrr more than attacks.

Best centre mid is Modric IMO
And Modric attacks farrr more than he defends. Whats the difference?. To be honest, I class Defensive midfielders and central midfielders as one really while attacking midfielders eg Modric and Silva are a completely different position IMO. Lucas is the best central midfielder in the premiership.

I don't get it, how does one player improve by quantum leaps in two years, it defies logic, and the best progression I have seen made by a player. Whether it was the language, confidence etc. I don't know, but he simply is astounding in terms of the level he has reached, can he reach more :O

I can only put it down to hard work and a positive attitude from the lad. I have always backed the lad and it's the same with wee Henderson. That is the future of Liverpool and as fans, all we have to do is to support the boys big time through thick and thin!

He's full of confidence. The moment the crowd at the games started to realise he's fairly decent his confidence grew and he hasn't looked back since. He seems genuinely thrilled to be here and loves the club. I don't think you can put enough emphasis on those two things, personally.

If he keeps going at this rate he can be the greatest midfield lynchpin in the world by the time he's 27/28.

This guy is a beast. I thank Rafa not for signing him but for sticking for the land when stupid Media were killing him. We are so lucky to have him in our team. He is miles away from likes of anderson and carricks of this world. I bow to you Lucas Leiva. He is gonna be a certified Legend for this club. He is exemplary on and off the field. I truly feel blessed to witness him in Red shirt. And if some one come and say clam down, fuck off lad.

For those into them...

His chalkboard stats are absolutely unbelievable. I've never seen one like it:

Passes attempted 75
Passes completed 69
Success rate 92%

Tackles attempted 11
Tackles won 11

That's split into:

Duels won (aerial) 5/5
Duels won (tackle) 6/6

That last is extraordinary. I don't think I've ever seen such a high number of successful tackles by their measures, let alone achieved by winning 100% of all the 'duels' entered into.

Then we have:

Interceptions 6

Again incredible, it's rare to see more than 2 or 3 in this stat.

Edit, I almost forgot:

...and he did all this while drawing 2 fouls and only giving away 1, and even that was well away from the area.

That's without even mentioning the sheer quality and creativity of so many of his passes today. He wasn't just utterly dominant in his capacity as a defensive midfielder but hugely influential in attack.

I started to argue he was gonna be quality with  4 of my mates about 3 years ago. 3 of them admitted i was right over the last couple of years. Finally got a text off the last stubborn git 5 minites ago. It said "You were right about Lucas. He has improved more than ive ever seen a player improve and i love him." I texted back that he was a stubborn git and about 2 years late :)
