Plus the fact Amorim has done it twice now by the looks of things after a 20 year drought, and against two big rivals not while Ajax are having an aneurism.

To be fair to Slot, he was level on points with Ajax when manager of AZ Alkmaar, could have won it that season but it was curtailed due to Covid and Ajax were awarded the title (I'm assuming they were ahead on GD). So let's say Slot won the title with AZ and then Feyenoord. Two titles with two different clubs. I think that would put his achievements on par with Amorim who has done it twice with one club. And you can argue that AZ are smaller than Feyenoord.

The new Fat White Family album, Forgiveness Is Yours, is out today and it is FANTASTIC!

I went to the album launch gig at Rough Trade East last night. I go to a few of these things and they're usually quite low-key events - the band comes on around 8pm, plays for about 30-40 minutes at most and then people queue to get their album signed. They're mainly a way to support the band - entry is the price of buying the album, the live performance and getting it signed is a bonus. I like them because I can pop along there after work, see a band I like and still be home at a reasonable time.

Last night was more like a proper gig. First they had a support band - an absolutely bonkers avant-garde act called Secluded Bronte, three middle-aged men who make a lot of noise eg by playing a fork with a violin bow. They were absolutely brilliant. I recommend checking them out on YouTube, though the videos don't really convey the live experience.

Then FWF came on... I've not seen them before but they have a reputation for being great live performers. And they completely lived up to it. They are superb, and Lias is an awesome frontman. He came down off the stage a couple of times to mingle with the crowd - got a bit raucous the second time. Loved it.

They played a mix of old favourites and new stuff from the album. There's a track called John Lennon which was an instant hit for me. It's super funky and has great lyrics.

Work is another standout track.

Anyway, they played for nearly an hour and finished quite late, so I didn't get home until nearly 1am. On the plus side, that meant I was able to listen to the album on the way home last night when it became available to download at midnight. I've already listened to it through a few times. Yeah, I can confirm that John Lennon is a superb tune.

It's all good though. All their previous albums have had a few great tracks but tend to be a bit patchy overall. This one already feels like their most consistently excellent album yet.

Pretty certain this is going to be on my end-of-year favourites list.

Got tickets to see FWF again at the Troxy in June. That's going to be something else.

If we're comparing him to bald Dutch managers, he definitely seems to be more Martin Jol than Erik Ten Hag. But that's not a bad thing at all in my book - Jol did well at Spurs. OK he didn't actually win anything there (they're Spurs, not winning anything is their MO) but he brought them up from mid-table mediocrities to consistently challenging for European places in the league. He was ultimately undone by a combination of Daniel Levy and dodgy lasagne, rather than by bad results.

In the case of both Rodgers and Jol, a lot of their problems were down to bad relationships with senior people at the club. Damien Comolli being a common factor. (Not saying Rodgers or Jol were blameless but the fact that the same person was instrumental in things turning sour in similar ways in both cases speaks volumes.)

Comolli was sacked before Kenny left. The fella Rodgers fell out with was Edwards.

Possibly, but the few posts I could endure after the Everton game did not seem in anyway well intentioned. Self-censorship is a slippery slope to what?

a slippery slope to not having a forum.  If we applied your rules of not venting and self censorship  we would probably be left with very few posters.  Im talking 4 or 5.  If we bring in your other rule of not upsetting fellow reds, we are probably down to `1 or 2.

This is why I can't blame the players or say if we'd done our job against x, y, z we'd have won the league.

We get fucked over every other week by referees. They get utterly scandalous decisions in their favour. With fair refereeing Arsenal and Abu Dhabi would have less points and we'd have more.

Well Arsenal got screwed at Newcastle. Maybe we need to be more clever. The amount of soft fouls we give away. The opponents are looking for it as a way out. The amount of soft ones Mcallister and Konate were doing the other night would be much easier standing their ground and not giving the ref an excuse to give something

Yeah, I don't see what the fuss is about.  He's a 17 year old kid who knows he's amazing at darts and is giving some back to a crowd who booed him.  I think people forgot how young he is because he looks likes about 40.

If the transfers don't go well I am sure the usual journalists will get briefed regarding it being the fault of the coach not using them properly or that they were really the managers choices after all.

Yeah but come on, if you know your mate is shit and your asset is going to turn to shit, then your hardly going to be thrilled about it. Edwards carefully crafted his rep through success. If Liverpool turns to shit, his rep will get tainted.

Well this is shit rather than annoying!!

The eldest granddaughter has had a quite serious injury playing football on Sunday when she's gone in for a tackle but the contact impact has ripped her thigh muscle off her pelvis 😳😕

Ouch. That must have been painful!

when I was a teen, my mate had to have his spleen removed after an attempted overhead kick during a kickabout after school.
