Never EVER put him out wide again. Please God... play a tub of lard out wide if you're having to take him out of the midfield.

I don't think Chopper would be much use out wide. ;D

Or for that matter, anywhere. Unless we use him to man mark the referee. ;D
Quote from: Dion Fanning

The chants for Kenny Dalglish that were heard again on Wednesday do not necessarily mean that the fans see him as the saviour. This is not Newcastle, longing for the return of Kevin Keegan. Simply, Dalglish represents everything Hodgson is not and, in fairness, everything Hodgson could or would not hope to be.

Play him out there. Why not? Get him to touch his toes, sign him off, and get him on the pitch. Get my mum on the pitch... get anyone out there, but don't vacate the midfield from Lallana.

Disagree entirely on this. I think out of all our midfielders he likes them the most (unless you include Milner), the only thing he frequently does is try to chip the ball over the defenders foot in those situations which, to be fair, is a lot smarter than steaming in hurting your knee or ankle ligaments and making not one iota of difference to where the ball goes.

Never been his biggest fan but regardless of how much they give him or how old he is can only see this as good news if he can consistently keep hitting the form he's been in for the majority of the season. Thought he'd dipped back to what we'd become used to in his first two seasons throughout January but I thought against Spurs he was fucking fantastic.

At 110k we got him on the cheap there. Outstanding business to tie down the best no.8 in the league this season for that money. Good stuff.

Good news this, rewarded well but obviously not too well that our heads will fall off (but they probably will anyway)

Said when it was first reported that I'd not be surprised to see the 4th Year as an option.

Only £110k a week too, almost makes you wonder why some posters don't wait until more concrete info comes out before getting all moany about things.

Great news. One of my favourite players. His quality was always obvious, but he's shown that quality way more consistently since Klopp came in.

Well the 150k for 4 years came from Paul Joyce - whose supposed to be 'sourced'

People "moan" about things because its a forum and they like discussing stuff. Negative opinions about something the club has done or is considering aren't de facto moans - often they're opinions

In this case wages and the contracts we give to new and existing players are an interesting area because they're fundamental to everything we do and don't do in the market and therefore the team we put on the pitch

I agree with your general sentiment but in this case, as I said at the time, people were pissing and moaning over a difference of c. £5m spread across 3-4 years (i.e. whether he's worth £110k, £125k, £150k...)

It seemed petty given that he's one of our best three players and absolutely fundamental to what we want to do over those 3-4 years. Saving £25-40k p/w on Lallana isn't suddenly going to make us go out and get Griezmann.

I can understand people having a more watchful eye over squad players' wages. It will be interesting to see what happens with Can and Lovren, two players I want us to keep around but not players we should be overpaying for.

Did the figure come from him? As I know he (and a few other reliable ones) mention a new deal, but thought the figure came from follow up articles in less reliable papers.

100% agree, and it's definitely a valid discussion point.

It's just a little predictable which members will be the first to pipe up at even the smallest hint (often from unreliable sources) of something they may not agree with, which is normally most things, and then go on and on and on about it. The same member who was the main one to do it in here has done the same today in another thread based on a shite article from a shite journo in an even more shite paper.

Then again some think everything is perfect then get confused as to why we usually finish 7th/8th.

I am pretty sure he was saying the average wage in the UK is about 400 quid a week. Ergo, it is a reflection of how bloated and fucked up the Premier League is that we consider a sum 275 times this figure to be 'good value'.

I think that's what was meant anyway.
