Sometimes teams have an eye on the next fixture, it’s unavoidable. That was very much the case yesterday, trying to get the job done with the minimum of energy expended where possible. It looked closer then it actually was due to them having some half chances near the end but in reality we were pretty comfortable. With an international break coming up, complete focus can go into Sunday’s game while City haven’t even kicked off yet.
94 Corner to us. Last kick. Ali in the box and he’s scored

The mighty Reds dished out another 2-1 hammering. One of these days we're going to absolutely batter someone.

Salah was trying WAY too hard last night, things just weren't coming off for him and you could tell and see in his play he was trying too hard to make it happen and getting frustrated.

Ox was excellent and I I thought Origi did some link up play and runs really well, his touch is still a bit junk though but his overall play seems to be improving to me, he has a really good knockdown in first half I think for Ox or Milner that the shot got blocked but was a good bit of play.

Fabinho boss as per, man is everywhere with his telescopic legs.

3 points, key players rested, no injuries, Fabinho back in his stride, and Ox looking better each game. The performance is less important than the bigger picture.

Robertson's not used to playing for only 15 minutes - he probably got home and went for a 20 mile run. Resting Mane and Bobby for most of the game will be huge, and they can come out all guns blazing for City.

Another two goals for midfielders (even if one was playing up front....), which is a good sign and shares the burden around the team.

We are a winning machine now, and lets continue that on Sunday.
I've got OCD, but I prefer to call it CDO so it's in alphabetical order.

Living up to your custom tag I see. Truly bewildering opinion.

Not just me then.
It's true to say that if Shankly had told us to invade Poland we'd be queuing up 10 deep all the way from Anfield to the Pier Head.

I've found myself thinking that our lack of clinical finishing is becoming a bit of a worry, that we're making plenty of chances but not putting theball into the net and finishing teams off. But the stats don't really bear this out.

In all PL and ECL games this season so far, our 'G' has exceeded 'xG' in 9 games, and been below it in 6.

The slight concern is that in each of our last 5 league games, xG has been higher than G. However, this is against the backdrop of higher xG figures than in our first 6 (2.2 xG in last 5, against 1.75 in first 6)

A Tory, a worker and an immigrant are sat round a table. There's a plate of 10 biscuits in the middle. The Tory takes 9 then turns to the worker and says "that immigrant is trying to steal your biscuit"

Keita looks completely lost and is not helping himself by being so timid. On one play he passed to VvD and VvD passed it right back to him as if to say go on, don't be shy, make something happen.

I normally leave discussions of actual football to people here who know what they're talking about, but I remember the exact passes you mean.

Van Dyke passed the ball right back to Keita because he had made himself some room. Keita passed the ball to van Dyke and moved. Keita's man went after the ball. Keita was suddenly in space. Van Dyke passed it back to him.

The instant return ball is a simple, basic, repeated staple of possession. Even teams who don't play possession do it. Even I make these passes, and I'm utterly shit.

I'd humbly suggest you may possibly be reading something into Keita's play that you kind of expect to see. I thought he was a massive handful. He pulled people into room and he made them run, and showed some fantastic skill.
