What is this "hacking scandal" anyway?

Anything to be worried about or just bollocks?

I've seen it referred to as "industrial espionage" haha.

One of the club's employees who was formerly employed by City used his old log-in details to access their scouting software.  Due to this we were able to beat them to Jordan Ibe and thus become the dominant force in English football.  The End.

Their entire forum has lost their minds.

Every thread comes back to how they've been robbed this season.
They are literally ‘loons’ on that forum as well as very very bad losers and entitled ‘Walter Mitty’s’ 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I just love their conspiracy theories and their revisionist rambling! 😂😂😂😂

They are genuinely mental over there. RAWK gets a lot of stick on rival ran forums but that place is something else.

The 'hacking' issue, as I understand it, is that two former Man City employees who now work for us (probably Fallows and Ward but it has never been confirmed) used their old log-ins to access a third party scouting database called Scout7. How much information they extracted from it has also never been confirmed but it is believed that the employees accessed the information over a period spanning a number of months.

City got wind of it after Liverpool expressed an interest in a youth player City were keeping tabs on. City first believed that Scout7 had been compromised but then, after hiring 'forensic computer analysts' they discovered that valid log-in credentials were being used to access the database. They would have traced them to their IP addresses (probably in Melwood!)

The two clubs agreed a financial settlement of around £1m to resolve the issue.

Having seen agreements like this before, it will be a written agreement, prepared by external lawyers which essentially says:

1. City say LFC did X
2. LFC do not accept any wrongdoing but are willing to pay City £1m for them to drop the issue and for them to not report it to the FA
3. Both parties then sign

This is a civil issue so how Man City fans think they should report it to the police is beyond me.

Their own club were willing to accept £1m and move on so perhaps their fans should too.

it also happened SEVEN years ago.

Is it more interesting that we were looking at coutinho as a proper target and low and behold Liverpool went in first! Consequently from that they managed to flog him and buy Allison and VVD with the money?

yep between 2011 and 2013 that happened a bit

was talk of us bringing Friedel back and spurs swooped. Same with Dempsey, Willian then was on verge of signing for us, then it was spurs then chelsea.

There was probably more. Sigurdsson was one too

Wouldn't lower myself.
The more you hear about some of their antics on various platforms, the more those adverts for social media influencers are ringing true, except they are not there to describe the wonderful matchday experience.

Given the financial stuff, the owners human rights record, the way they use PR, the players singing about us, Sterling's behaviour, the bitterness of the likes of Sinclair and Richards etc. It looks like City don't react too well to competition.

"But it's our league, we bloody paid for it"

It must all feel so hollow for them mustn't it? To "win" so much, but or so few people to be arsed. In fact the majority just see them as useful to stop rivals winning more. If we're honest, we did, and that's why rivals want them to beat us.

They’re posting up the Merseyside police contact on bluemoon so fans can report our ‘hacking’ (or industrial espionage as they’re calling it now). Genuinely never seen saltiness of the like before. Levels of derangement beyond anything I’ve seen from football fans. It’s extraordinary and actually quite fascinating.

They say that the team is a reflection of their manager....

When things aren't going City's way I remember they would just keep on going and eventually get the result they wanted anyway. There has been a slow shift from that especially this season.

Nothing we have done can be at fault for that. Tho some will try hard to!

Is Guardiola just trying to deflect his own shortcomings when he's at THIS point in a managerial stint....after the initial wave of optimism and delight at his methods and the results that follow, when it gets to be a bit of a chore...it's quite interesting in itself.

Their fanbase though, absolutely mad. (the ones that do phone-ins, Twitter and social media sites which obviously don't reflect them all, but....) they seem to lack any sense of irony calling us victims while throwing the victim card in everything and not trying to see how they have quite obviously deteriorated and not trying to see what's wrong inhouse. I mean atleast give it a go?

Still upsets me seeing Rodolfo standing next to Guardiola on a side note....THEY HACKED HIM!

Shouldn't be allowed outside the lot of them, maybe that's why their stadium is always empty?  ;D

Premier League boss gives update on allegation Liverpool FC hacked into Man City scouting system

Manchester City were reported to have been paid £1million by the Merseyside club, prompting an FA enquiry

The Premier League is not investigating Liverpool’s alleged hacking of Manchester City’s scouting system.

But new chief executive Richard Masters has confirmed that the Football Association is still looking into the matter.

The allegations arose when The Times newspaper reported that the Merseyside club had paid the Blues £1million in 2013, after a confidential agreement between the clubs.

City had claimed their scouting system had been hacked, and the FA is understood to have asked both clubs for evidence over the matter – which could lead to a misconduct charge for individuals if proved to be true.

City reportedly said that the login to their Scout7 computer system – which contains information about transfer targets amongst other data - had been used on more than one occasion by several Liverpool employees.

The £1million payment was said to have been made without the club or any individuals accepting any wrongdoing.

Man City players given extra time off by Pep Guardiola after Man Utd and Tottenham defeats
The matter came to light in September 2019 and shortly afterwards the FA asked City for information on it to determine whether there is a case against Liverpool.

The matter is potentially a breach of the FA misconduct rule which states “A participant should at all times act in the best interests of the game and shall not act in any manner which is improper or brings the game into disrepute.”

It had been suggested that the Premier League could launch its own investigation as one of the league’s own rules states that “each club shall behave towards each other club and the League with the utmost good faith” - and, if proved, the allegation would be a clear breach of that rule.

However, Masters said on Tuesday that the Premier League has not begun any investigation, while confirming that the FA continue to look at the matter.

He added: "As a regulator we always intervene if we feel it's necessary. It's really hard to provide a running commentary on the regulatory side of the business

Haha, we're in their heeds. Only coz there was fuck all in there to begin with. Its all just sour grapes and bad loser shite. Happy to take blood money to buy their tainted titles, theres nothing too low for these fans. Call us the dippers? Better to dip into bins for food than it is to dip into stolen money from murderers and torturers.

Brennan is a City writer. He is paid to make this shit up. Paid blood money by crooks to peddle their propaganda. His writing is about as balanced as their own back 4. Instead of constructively critiquing his own team, he has just trawled blue moon for cheap shite stories. Hes as bad as their squad. Denying the blindingly obvious and instead reaches for half arsed conspiricy theories. Look you bunch of wallopers, your defence is shite, you failed to replace VC who is arguably one of the best defenders of the premier leagues history and laporte got injured. Your left with Stones, yeah stones a fucking muppet and Fernandinho (a midfielder) and you also wonder why your midfield isnt as good as it once was. You lost 6 games ffs, drawn 4 i think? Thats the reason youre not winning it this year. Get a grip, hold yer hands up and take the medicine and move on. Bunch of crybaby ankles.

yeah, Brennan is an absolute nutcase, plays up to Abu Dhabi fans like a champ though, but gets most of his clicks and retweets from articles mentioning Liverpool. He's City's version of Duncan Castles, and along with Castles, he should be blacklisted here. No need to give publicity to his mad ramblings.

Probably end up getting employed by BBC Salford alongside Simon Stone. Is the Dry bar still going? or is it the Lowry?

With that kind of fan online behaviour shown on Bluemoon, their club should probably more accurately be referred to as M-INCEL-ster City.
