The last paragraph maybe because it’s people against dragon fire which kind of makes it too easy. On the other hand one dragon fighting another dragon gives it another dynamic. You will notice that later on.

It might not, but why comment about things that are yet to happen? It's not the first time future events have been discussed on here, without spoiler tags.

Yeah, this is good.

I do feel one thing it's missing so far is some humour, it worked so well in Thrones to break up the earnestness which has been fairly unrelenting in this. The Hound/Tyrion/Bronn the main ones but it was peppered all through the show from minor characters too, and much the richer for it imo. It's early days I suppose, I just hope it doesn't take itself too seriously!

It confused me at first I thought I had missed an episode or something.

I found the fight at the end very unengaging for some reason.

Because there was no build up, so what or who are you supposed to care about?

People comparing this to the very best of GoT already are surely having a laugh?

Crabfeeder and his really bad archers

TBF, archers weren't precision weapons. They shot into an area rather than individual targets. Unless they got to under 30 yards or so.

One thing that I appreciated was the command "Loose". Not fire, which is a gunpowder era command.

Yeah, think Legolas gives people the wrong impressions of archers  ;D

Really enjoyed that. Keen to see how this plays out before the time jump, assume that happens in ep 5?

Really enjoyed it again this week!

Spoiler
Bit gutted that they are changing the Rhaenyra character as she's really good and I'm not a massive fan of Emma D'Arcy but hopefully she will do a good job. I thought the battle at the end was a tad silly with Daemon dodging like 100 arrows whilst killing numerous soldiers  ;D but they went for a cinematic battle and I can understand why.

Overall really enjoying it though and I 'm a bit surprised it's as good as it is to be honest.

Is the story of this based on a full book in the same way GoT is?

Like, is it separate from GoT if it is?

It's not written as a novel ie about each character, it's actually written by "sources" such as maesters and also the court jester, Mushroom. So, it's basically like an historical record of each Targaryen. As we know, the maesters hated the Targaryens, so it's up to you what you believe and what you don't.

Certainly reminiscent of some of the battle scenes in GOT (only watched one episode of Dragons).

That was a brilliant episode. I love how we are going from the insinuations in the book to actually seeing what did happen in the show. Rhaenyra became a dragon tonight, from the moment it broke down between her and Daemon, you feared for the next man around! It was interesting to see how Ser Criston Cole didn't take long to make his mind up, but his honour has gone now. I can't help thinking he will regret that. The scenes between Otto and Viserys were really well done, both actors did great in both of the scenes. I also like how Mysaria hasn't wasted her time, she now has her spy network running around in the background. When Daemon took Rhaenyra's hat off was that to purposely show people who she was? Is he also working along with Mysaria?Did anyone else spot some foreshadowing on Rhaenyra's end, when she is in the streets of King Landing?

Enjoyed that. Some solid character building. Not sure the writing is that great but the cast are getting everything out of it. Criston sex scene was a bit Channel 5.

Dunno how I feel about shoe-horning in the Prince that was Promised/White Walker stuff, if I remember correctly nothing like that was in the book? Understandable though, can see them deciding it's a nice carrot for Thrones fans, and can be used in-show for Viserys/other big players to take literally and think whichever next Princeling is "the one" that was promised.

Also still disappointed that humour will seemingly not be used in this series. All very serious.

Everyone one is so serious and totally lack any humor.

I miss characters like a Tyrion, Sam or even a John Snow a countermeasure to all the bad stuff going on someone to get behind

Don't do that to yourself. We made that mistake with GOT, creating and thinking of many theories.

I think it will be fine as long as George stays on board.

I'm starting to get a bit bored of it hopefully it will pick up.

Everyone one is so serious and totally lack any humor.

I miss characters like a Tyrion, Sam or even a John Snow a countermeasure to all the bad stuff going on someone to get behind

It's weird you talking about humour, I really didn't like the show Tyrion he was too different to the book one for my liking. He was a bit of a bastard in the book. Out of interest Trada, have you read Fire and Blood? I wonder if it is something which makes more sense if you have read the book. I am finding it really interesting as because the book is not clear in how the characters are, seeing what they are doing with each one, makes it even more fascinating for me. A lot of people are saying Alicent is better than in the books, but of course the whole story is based on opinions from certain people who may not like the characters, so for me it makes the show able to do far more with the characters, and then make some more surprising as a result.
