It was when Murray’s daughter joined Corbyn’s team alongside dad and Seumus Milne, that I did something I wouldn’t have thought possible; I wrote a long letter to Ian McNichol explaining that I was resigning my Labour Party membership, because the Party had been taken over by Trotskyists and Kremlin sympathisers. (I rejoined as soon as they were gone).
Did he reply?

“Generosity always pays off. Generosity in your effort, in your work, in your kindness, in the way you look after people and take care of people. In the long run, if you are generous with a heart, and with humanity, it always pays off.”

Yes, but his reply was non-commital in terms of agreeing or sympathising.

It's wild that Reform/Tory combined still get close to Labour in terms of vote share.

Proportional representation- the unintended consequences would be about 100 Reform MPs!

It's wild that Reform/Tory combined still get close to Labour in terms of vote share.

Labour have gained a lot of support from older age groups but have been stagnant or plummeted with younger voters:

2019 Election vs Redfield & Wilton Poll, % vote share:
18-24: 62 -> 44 (-18)
25-34: 51 -> 48 (-3)
35-44: 39 -> 42 (+3)
45-54: 28 -> 39 (+11)
55-64: 27 -> 29 (+2)
65+: 17 -> 31 (+14)

Gaza is pushing younger voters to Green, TikTok is pushing them to Reform. 25% between these two alone.

The Labour TikTok has more followers and nearly 3x the total likes. Their most popular tiktok's comfortably have more views than reforms most popular.

It's not that Labour isn't popular on TikTok, it's that Reform has managed to carve out potential votes on the platform. It's not like an 18 year old has any idea what Brexit really was. Trump is doing the same in the US.

I’m helping on the count down here on the big night - have always been intrigued with the intricacies of how an election is run behind the scenes and so although I won’t be able to watch the coverage I’ll be doing the next best thing.

And if the count finishes late enough, I’ll have all of the next day off :)

I say you are wrong that the data says you are wrong, too.

I can imagine it now, 'the public aren't ready to be given the vote.'  'Women, definitely not'

A well-functioning, properly funded NHS - not for me, Clive  ;)

How about renationalising water? Nope.

Did any political party stand on the agenda of giving women the vote ? No because it was not a popular stance, hence the jumping in front of the kings horse etc. Gay marriage not a vote winner either, it was introduced by a conservative govt following Blair cautiously paving the way with civil partnership.

A radical manifesto will mean a smaller majority with a reduced ability to pass radical bills,

Starmer is a very effective politician. His alliance with Sue Gray an absolute master stroke. As someone who has followed every election since 1983 this is a magnificent campaign. It’s not a joyful one like Blair in 1997 but it is exactly what it needs to be. Starmer is about deliver to labour a majority which will provide a platform for meaningful change.

Lucky enough to be working from home on the 5th so plan to stay up till about 5am when the counting tends to slow down before restarting in the morning. 3 hours sleep then watch the car take Starmer to the Palace. Basically what I did in 97 except had to take leave the next day.

Yes, the Labour Party did. And unlike Christabel Pankhurst who wasn't keen on giving the poor and propertyless the vote, Labour stood for universal suffrage.

Just over a week to go and so far I've had the sum total of 2 (two) pamphlets put through my door, one SNP and one Labour. I've not seen any party logos on any lamp posts or houses and haven't heard of any campaigning going on at all in my area.

The polls show it 58% to 42% in favour of Labour here, so no real surprise there is no being spent by any of the other candidates being on the doorsteps, but surely the 2 main parties here would be making some form of effort to secure votes.

Please tell me that this sort of apathy isn't going on all over the country.
we've had a Labour leaflet, at least my daughter has (first general election for her). Seen a few posters in gardens whilst driving around, current score is 14 Labour, 2 Plaid Cymru.

Not seen a single Tory banner anywhere, usually there are some on farmland throughout the constituency but not a peep this time
However if something serious happens to them I will eat my own cock.

If anyone is going to put a few fingers deep into my arse it's going to be me.

I want to get through the whole night but not miss any of the next day's analysis - somethings got to.give.

I’m thinking I can stay up until about 3am, hopefully by that time we’ve had a few counts come in and hopefully a Portillo moment or two, I was up late enough to watch the actual Portillo moment in 1997 because I was off school for some reason the following day that escapes me.
Thinking is overrated.

Rest, love, observe. Laugh.

12….Maybe 12:30…

Thursday night, I’m totally knackered at the best of times.
