/Interesting take on McConnell's strategy when it comes to impeachment. Suggesting that ol' Minority Mitch wanted to avoid a snap trial to ensure sufficient evidence came into the public domain that would enable Republicans to really justify turning on Trump to their own voters.

It popped up on my feed and I shared before realising it was from 2018, and built solely on information in the public domain. Rachel didn't even really have to do any digging or investigating - it was just a question of arranging the information in order and giving it context so it would make sense to a regular person. Not many over here would be bothered with doing even that.

Goodness knows how much crap has built up since this first aired.

I hope you're right about not getting away with it. if there's the will to hold Trump to account which I believe there is then there's enough evidence we know already to send Trump down for many years, imagine the classified stuff we don't know and probably never will.am beginning to think Trump may end up like Robert Maxwell, talk about all tumbling down, accountability is coming from all over the place.

Sharing for info really. I kinda knew, in an abstract way, that QAnon had forums, twitter, probably even a subreddit, etc. But these people genuinely believed that, on inauguration day, the National Guard and the Secret Service were going to turn their guns on Biden, Harris, the audience, and arrest them.

They thought Trump was going to be helicoptered back in and swear an oath of President for Life, then preside over the public beheading of Hilary Clinton, live on C-Span, whilst soldiers stormed the offices of CNN, NBC, WaPo etc, and arrested the hosts, editors, tea lady, and everyone else in between.

It's not even hyperbole. They really thought it.

And, like every doomsday cult, where the prophesied "End of the World" day comes and goes and the world is still here, these people are left scratching their heads, saying to themselves, "what do we do now?"

20% of Republicans voted against a nomination for no other reason than they were nominated by a Democrat. 40% of that 20% have their eye on 2024.

Leaving the filibuster in place makes things so much more difficult.
