I've never given the Trent midfield shouts much credence, but it might end up being considered at some point in the future just to get both players on the pitch. Williams looks like the real deal...

He has impressed me every time I’ve seen him but it’s mostly been with the B team against lesser teams. A very promising performance today.

Depends how good Trent is in midfield really. If he’s as good a 6/8 as a RB and Neco develops into as good a RB as Trent it’s a no brainer. All big ifs and probably not worth discussing but it’s just a symptom of excitement about this lad.

If I were Neco I'd be trying to develop positionally so that I could play LB too. If he could cover RB and LB he'd be in the squad every week and would have a good chance of playing a decent number of games every season.

Thats the great thing about having a manager like klopp he loves turning youth players with potential into top class players & he does it at the right pace. It must be fantastic as a young lad to know we have a manager willing to put the time in

TAA plays left-back on occasion when switching sides with Robbo. Firmino's first goal versus Leicester after the CWC came from a perfectly weighted pass from the left side of the pitch, for example. If Robbo is ever out Trent could play LB while Neco partners him on the right. I think Trent ultimately wants to return to playing in the 6, like he did at the academy. In that case, Neco could take over at RB within the next 2 to 3 years.

He so could have scored, and it would have been a fitting reward for his performance. What a talent! I hope he keeps developing in a path parallel to Trent's as opposed to Flanno's.

Look's like he has a decent left foot if passing/shooting in that last game is anything to go by. Maybe thats why we havent gone hunting for a backup LB yet

Wasn't there someone who was an RB but played LB consistently? Like for over 5 or 6 seasons.

I seem to think La Liga but it could also be the Bundesliga. I am not sure.

In cup games next year I would give Neco a run at RB and Trent a run out at RW

In games which are a bit tight the extra width with a winger who isnt going to cut in could help unlock some teams

Why? ;D

We’ve got the best RB in the world. We’re hopefully in a position now where we can use Neco at RB in the cups, maybe in certain European games, if Trent is injured or needing a rest and maybe against certain teams in the league.

It’s an opportunity to keep Trent sharp. This obsession with trying to move players away from their best position is bizarre.
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

For that, he needs to be able to cross first time consistently with the left. If he can do that, he has everything else.

He was outstanding last night and has been good in the cup games too.

Having two options at RB is superb. We just need a Neco equivalent for LB now.

That little bit of skill before the saved shot was lovely. He's obviously extremely talented, would be a massive help to have a good backup RB come through the system.

I've never given the Trent midfield shouts much credence, but it might end up being considered at some point in the future just to get both players on the pitch. Williams looks like the real deal...

It's perfect succession planning. In a couple of years, Neco will be 21, with a 23-year-old Trent ready to take 32-year-old Hendo's spot on the right side of the midfield.

In the meantime, we look to have a highly talented & hungry young player as back-up. Just need one for the other side.

Would love for Klopp to give him and Harvey more chances after we wrap up the title. But I would also love for us to beat the points record. Hopefully, Klopp finds a way to do both.

You mean like yesterday? ;)

Neco had 3 or 4 good half-chances either one of which could have turned into a goal with a lucky bounce, a ted more precise pass, etc. These situations came within 15 min, which is amazing! I'd love him to score, and he will, but the most important thing was that he helped create those situations, that he was there to take advantage, and that he's got no psychological barriers to take responsibility in those. Brilliant kid!

looks so good further up the pitch. that pass to salah was pure perfection. helps that we got players that make that kind of runs

i guess we will have to see how he shapes up defensively against quick and tricky wingers..he might have to learnt the hard way

remember trent being the target by opposition wingers not so long ago as he was defensively "suspect". Hardly the target now as they know they going to get nothing.
