This is good, great story on former Liverpool player Craig Johnston, he had an amazing story to tell tbf. Slightly ignorant of me but I had no idea he created the predator boot!!
I've heard his story a few times now, but Johnston is always interesting to listen to.

Loving Everton's business this summer. Here's an early call - they finish above Liverpool this season.

Pretty fascinating interview on the 5 live football daily on October 17.

Stuart Webber, formerly Liverpool recruitment director, now sporting director at Norwich. Great interview with someone in a senior position within a premier league club who is actually English and comes across as a very positive humble guy.

Love that podcast now. Thanks for the recommendation. Apparently they have the third book too!

The episodes where they review that Barry Fry docu is ace.

The third book review is out.

I now have a Pavlovian response to the word "chummy."

Anyone listened to Carra’s new podcast, the Greatest Game?

Heard it plugged on the anfield wrap, just listening to the interview with Henderson at the moment and it’s really interesting. Well worth a listen and it’s all on Spotify

Recently finished Cold, which covers the disappearance of Susan Cox Powell from Utah ten years ago. I passed when it came out earlier this year because 18 long episodes about a case I was already somewhat familiar with felt like too big a commitment. Glad I changed my mind.

As far as true crime podcasts go there isn't anything particularly revolutionary about its production - but what made it so compelling to listen to in spite of that (in addition to the story itself) is how all of the major players are avid journalers, which gives a crazy kind of deep insight into these people which you just don't usually get. The extracts/recordings are genuinely unnerving in light of the context and events and it made me feel like I was listening to a fiction audiobook at times but in a good way because it meant 'the characters' were so dimensional.

I would definitely recommend checking out the website with each episode, even if it's just to help grasp the geography of the story.

A new update episode was released today to mark the 10th anniversary of her disappearance but I haven't listened yet.

Listened to first two so far. Love it. Totally amateur interviews with ex pros who are not pursuing media careers and can talk more openly and just be themselves. I’m finding it a good insight into the players and the real life of players who were not superstars but still made it to premier league clubs.

I just started listening to the Tanis podcast.

Tanis is a mystery horror fiction podcast executive produced by Terry Miles who also voices the podcast's narrator, Nic Silver. In the show, Silver undertakes a search to discover what and where the mysterious entity Tanis is.

"Since its purchase by the sheikh of Abu Dhabi, Manchester City has managed to cheat its way into the top echelon of European football and create a global, immensely profitable football empire, ignoring rules along the way. The club's newfound glory is rooted in lies."

Chasing Crosby.

Only two episodes out so far and I've only listened to one.

It's from a Journalist who broke the initial story back in the early 2000's when the allegations were just surfacing.

One of them where I knew the rough facts around it, but never appreciated the full magnitude of what he was doing.

Anybody listen to the Tailenders cricket podcast on the BBC?

Anybody else feel the quality has declined over the past few months as it's become somewhat self-aware and self-referential? Happens to a lot of podcasts, I find. The Football Ramble suffered from it badly.

There's a new podcast out called 'Dictators'.

Pretty straight forward - each episode is about a Dictator, goes for around 1 hour.

First two episodes are on Mussolini.

Did anyone else listen to Rachel Maddow`s "Bagman", about Spiro Agnew?

It`s a great tale about his crimes and corruption, he was forced from office rather than go to prison. It was also key to removing Nixon as he was the VP who some saw as even more dangerous than the top dog. There are many echoes today in the words and actions of a certain Donald J Trump, which I think was the main point of producing this. There are great interviews with surviving prosecutors and defending lawyers.

I'm about 80% through this and it's been thoroughly enjoyable. It's also very interesting and makes you wonder about Owen's entire career.
It's a trivial matter but it amused me, it's as if Darren Farley is interviewing Owen as Carragher, Carra really seems to accentuate his manner of speaking throughout :)

There's only been 2 episodes released so far - and those 2 have been on Mussolini.

But that was all wrapped up on the 2nd podcast - so I'm assuming it'll be 2 eps per Dictator/madman.

I recommend it - they don't over complicate anything, just simple basic information provided.

It's about the murder of a sex worker in the Cardiff Docks in the late 80s. It covers subjects such as race relations and the complete and utter ineptness and dishonesty of the police.

I was excited to see a BBC one, Manhunt: Finding Kevin Parle - about this wanted guy from Liverpool, on the run for two high profile murders you may remember (the kid Liam Kelly in Dingle and the mum Lucy Hargreaves whose house was firebombed in Walton)

But, halfway through the first episode and its not looking that promising. Has a bit of a cheesy vibe to it, the investigator (seems he had a TV show?) is a bit of a Danny Dyer, and there's voice actors reading some parts, just feeling a bit corny overall

Great this. Actually opened mouthed at points.

I've also given the Kevin Parle one a listen. I get the cheesy vibe, but most of the actors I can understand. Like the family don't necessarily want to be involved.
