I started watching a show the other day that was the 'World Cup's Greatest Ever Goals' or something like that.  I got about 30 seconds in before turning it off as it was hosted by some tosser doing a comedy gimmick of pretending to be professional footballer and all the cliches that come with it.

I remember the same thing happened during Euro 2012 with 'comedy' clip shows.

Does anyone know if there are any good programmes to watch in the run up the World Cup that doesn't treat its audience like a boozed up toddler and instead focuses on real analysis and discussion?

Ha! Have just got off Xbox live with my mate and I asked him if that was that fella who got busted trying to get on the England plane. He thought it was and I said to him "he was the host of some show, and you know me, anything footy im watching, well I had to turn it off due to fear of putting my tele through." What a unfunny c*nt!

And no to the second part :(

Not because of what the goal looks like but because of the passion and the circumstances - they needed 1 more goal to go through and Kewell produced it after a siege

How can there be so many 'favourite goals' ?

There has been 2208 goals scored in World Cup tournaments. That's a lot to choose from. Plus all the different nationalities so different goals will mean more to some but nothing to others

The best goal I reckon to be Denis Bergkamp v Argentina but my favourite was David Platts v Belgium in 1990 for the timing in the game, its execution and what it led to; a semi final in a tournament where England started off rubbish, got better and lost somewhat unluckily to Germany.
It always amuses me how so many jokers clearly make anti-England statements on here: how can that cheating git's handball be a favourite goal unless it is made to have a go at England...same goes for Ronaldinho's accident against the unfortunate Seaman in 2002. Oh well, it would be boring if we were all the same.

Not my very favorite but probably in the top 10 for me. The "chest-up" is brilliant and the strike amazing. It's the best goal Maxi scored in his prime for my money.

Grosso in the 2006 semi final.
Probably not the greatest in terms of technique or skill, but the tension of the moment, the occasion, the reverse pass from Pirlo that took 3 Germans out, the side foot finish, the mad, delightful celebration and my soft spot for the Italians make it my favourite.
Agreed, it's not one of the best goals for the skill or technique of it but it was massive due to the timing of it. Psychologically it was a hammer blow to the Germans and I remember going absolute bananas watching it live. A couple minutes later Del Piero would complete the rout.

That's right up there for me, to have the bollocks to do that under those circumstances and after the drama in the game was unbelievable.

Was delighted Uruguay went through that night, a rarity I suspect, but the way that penalty was taken just made it even better.

So many. The one that has brought me the most joy is Kenneth Andersson's 2-2 vs Romania in '94. There's Falcao's vs Italy in '82 as well, for the same reason - joy, rather than greatness.
