Shooting and final pass from Dominic has been very poor. Nunez really needs to start putting those away soon.

We let the referee get to us, a cynical person would say that the referee has given all the objective decisions the correct way but..
Oh My God the number of ridiculous subjective decisions he's given Newcastle's way is ridiculous. If you want to thwart us you'd want your midfielders to constantly baulk us, and the Ref's enabling it by not showing yellow cards.

Get Jota on for Nunez.

We’ve done enough to be ahead, but nowhere near clinical enough.

I can get why Klopp is persisting with him, but at some point a blunt message needs to be delivered. Jota must be gagging to get on, he'll need one chance and bang, sorted.

Oh, and Szobo has fallen off a cliff for some inexplicable reason. Endo and Curtis are good and steady in there but no idea what Dom has been on recently. Maybe a message to him that he needs to step up is also required. Ryan and Alexis must also itching to get some game time.

Diaz has been by far the best attacker, although he isn't without his own poor decision making in the second half of the half (much like all our attack). Also don't think the attack was that bad before the 25 minute mark - Nunez should have scor d the one on one and Salah the pen but otherwise I think they were working well just unfortunate with the tight offside and decent saves.

The team as a whole just need to calm down and re-introducd the domination of the first part of the half
The one on one chance was a good save and is scored pretty much one time  in four.

Salah        Gakpo          Jota

Second half?

I'd take Salah off, he deserves it.

Can’t seem to win at home over Xmas.  Can’t afford to drop more points here.

There is another half to go yet.

When did the rules change on a professional foul? Playing advantage doesn’t negate the foul. Referee is making up his own rules. We need to stop getting frustrated by the ref (not easy).

it's not a shot though as it was disallowed

Despite the wasteful attacks, Liverpool’s general play has been excellent at times. Really impressive press, regains etc.

The score line clouds things a bit.
Yeah I think the frustration has overshadowed the fact that we've been very good aside from our finishing. My concern is that we've lost our cool a bit. Diaz booked for dissent and Trent booked for kicking the ball away. I can't remember the last time I heard an Anfield crowd boo that loud after a HT/FT whistle.

We do make things difficult for ourselves sometimes though. Salah shouldn't be taking pens, Nunez shouldn't be starting games. Endo and Szobo shouldn't be shooting every time they have a sight at goal.

We need to manage Taylor. He totally lost it at the end there.

Mark my words, he will want to bring old red out if he can.

Agree and its so obvious to see! We’re not drawing this if we can’t score as Taylor wants to decide this.

As for not giving a card for that foul because he played advantage... I've never ever seen a ref do that, ever. They always go back for the booking, it's a terrible "decision".

Won the ball back in some great positions but havent punished them after that. Our pressing intensity is really high tonight

Some of Dom's passes have been wayward again. I thought it would be his best quality when we first bought him but can be pretty frustrating at times

We can't blame the ref when we miss clear cut chances that's on us, we have too many that are short on confidence in the starting line up and the ones in good form (Jota/Elliott) are both on the bench, so thats what I would change, our approach play/chance creation has been very good but you need composure to pick the right pass/right finish and thats been missing

We can both complain about the shite referee AND bemoan chances not being put away

The one with the 1-2 with Salah was that? Was good play and a good shot just saved by the keepers legs it happens.

There's 2 chances this game we should have clear cut scored like

Salah and Nunez have GOT to sort their finishing out if we are to get anything here.
If we haven't scored by around 75 mins, I reckon we ll get even more desperate and disorganised and they'll score instead.

BUT hopefully Klopp sorts it out at HT and we come out calmer and control the 2nd half AND at least become slightly better at finishing our chances.

Take the positives from that half, we are playing well and putting them under pressure. Keep it up, and look to bring on Jota soon.

Honestly so frustrating that half for so many reasons.

Really really hope we can go onto win this, it reminds me of that Leicester game that we ended up drawing 1-1 when we had a chance to gain 3 points on City after they lost.
