Once a week with one of these suckers, best razor I've ever had
Is that one adjustable? It looks it. Which blades do you use? The Merkur blades are fucking awful. The best ones I've found are Personna.
This is my collection of hair removal devices:
The straight razors are too blunt at the moment to use. If I want a clean shave, I use the adjustable Merkur in the middle. The Philishave is a great razor, but it seems to take just as long as with the wet razor to get everything off, and it burns a lot. Perhaps I just never got used to an electric.
On the right is the
Babyliss I-Trim, which is, frankly, shite. It has a lovely LCD and can theoretically cut from 0.5mm to 15mm in 0.5mm steps, but it's not at all well made. The
Remington to the left of the Philishave, on the other hand, is a beautiful piece of kit. I usually shave every second day with that without the plastic adapter. I have a very dark beard, and for me, that leaves much tidier stubble than you can get with the I-Trim. You do not want to use the I-Trim on your face without the adapter: it's horrible.
To the left of the straight razors is my epilator. The best way to get hair off hard-to-reach places like your back, but painful on dense patches of hair. Hair removal cream is the best for heavy thickets. It leaves your skin feeling weird and tight, but spares you the agony of wax or an epilator.
My mum assures me that the
Braun Silk-épil jobbies are the best, so I'll get one of those when mine dies. Note that epilators are designed for women, who trim their hairs as soon as they're long enough, not men who trim them once a year before summer. If you do the latter, your icky, long hairs will wrap all around the axle and fuck it up.
