This kicks off at 2:30am here, but no way I’ll be able to sleep beforehand! I’m hoping that old adage that we lost in the Cup means we’ll win in the League comes into play. Actually it’s not an old adage I just made it up, but I’m just desperate to win this game, and I think we will. Please God!

Can’t see it being easy, it never is, and think it will be cagey and nervous stuff from us. But we’ll do enough with us winning 2-1. Nunez to score the winner!

Cmon Mighty Reds, you can do this!

The 5-0 and the 4-2. Plenty of draws there too.

From memory:

15/16 - D 1-1
16/17 - D 1-1
17/18 - L 1-2
18/19 - D 0-0
19/20 - D 1-1
20/21 - W 4-2
21/22 - W 5-0
22/23 - L 1-2

Also played there three times in cup games. Drew 1-1 in the Europa and lost 3-2 and 4-3 in the FA Cup.

So them looking at their home record against us wouldn't look very rosy either?

We need much more control than we did in Cup match.

Play like we can then we have a huge chance.

We had total control in the second half but we didn't put the game to bed and then the game turns on the equaliser. United will always create chances and then if they score then in their cup final the ground becomes more of a bear pit and they start playing with confidence.

Similar happened at The Emirates where we were controlling the second half until the fuck up for the 2nd goal.

We had zero control from the start until we grew into it. Their crowd was absolutely silent in second half but we fucked around.

I want us to start the game with the confidence of second half but be more clinical. Silence their crowd and they soon turn on the team.

2-0 or 3-1 win for us.

Feeling a lot more confident about this one than the FA Cup (which was a far less important match).
Mark my words. Top 8 will be a massive struggle.
We won't make any big signings this season and we will go back to being a top4 club.

In the 90s when Manu were a great team and we were shite we got results against them at Anfield. That's why they shouldn't be underestimated but we have to make sure we play the game and not the occasion.

United on paper can field a decent team, recent poor performances does not change that, boring controlled possession is not how we play, we need to show up play to our best levels to win here, no complacency.
Repeats of our recent poor starts and giving up chances could cost us dearly.

19/20 - D 1-1
20/21 - W 4-2
21/22 - W 5-0
22/23 - L 1-2

Also played there three times in cup games. Drew 1-1 in the Europa and lost 3-2 and 4-3 in the FA Cup.

So there was no 15/16 result for Klopp as he took over in October and Rodgers was in charge when we played them the month before.  We lost 1-3.

Well done remembering them all, I tend to try and forget them as quickly as possible.

If you remove the COVID season which doesn't really count because there were no fans in the stadium, Klopp has a solitary win at Old Trafford across 9 cup and league games.

From memory we were favourites to win all those games - some significantly and others slight favourites.

As many have already touch on, this is generally not a matchup that suits Klopp teams.  However, perhaps the stars are aligning for us.

We gave up opportunities on the right hand side a few times before going ahead,  (similar to the opportunity they scored from) different game if they'd capitalised, united away is a different prospect.

Potentially Jones will get the nod ahead of Endo or Dom
It will be the usual front three

Agree, Bradley looked tired at the end last time out, Jones is better than both but is he ready?

Can’t see Jones starting as he looked gassed at the end on Thursday. But he’s a key sub along with Elliott as they offer energy and ball retention.

I personally think Bradley and Robbo start and we stretch the pitch as they offer up so many chances.

Twats! Let's have 'em!

Liverpool are hopeful of having Wataru Endo available again when they travel to Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday.

PUBLISHED 7 HOURS AGO
By Chris Shaw

..
The game with United does, however, come too soon for Trent Alexander-Arnold, Stefan Bajcetic, Alisson Becker and Diogo Jota, with that quartet due to resume parts of team training next week.
..
Shame about Diogo.. but we should have enough for these.
I really love seeing Darwin on the left against the big teams. We seem to create loads of chances off him there, but we did that like 3 times and as a late sub or a late shift.

Exactly, this is how we play.  Risk for reward.

I'd also add from watching both the Brighton v Arsenal and Crystal P v Man City games it was quite clear to see that neither team had the capacity to really close down space and make it difficult for Arsenal and City.  There was space and freedom to play coming out the wazzoo.

While some might argue that not scoring quickly gives Man U and their crowd belief, I actually think there might be something there for us in the latter stages of the game if it comes to that.  Just look at how Man U have folded against Brentford and Chelsea late.

From what I heard Ten Haag loves punishing his players with extra drills between matches so perhaps that is the cause for these late game capitulations.

I imagine they will come out all guns blazing so don't concede early and make it difficult for ourselves.

Hate playing them and they will massively raise their game. Looking forward to it but at the same time really not looking forward to it.

Their confidence and mentality must be shot to shit after the mid week fiasco with Chelsea coupled with the dying seconds late Brentford equaliser a few days before.
If they’d won that Chelsea game as looked likely after being 2 down they would have been pumped up and on a high ,a swagger if you like ,ready for us and fancying there chances especially with the recent win over us fresh in the minds .
But now they must be dreading it ,same with their fans ,it will be a nervous place all round for them ,go a goal down early on and they will soon be on their backs .we controlled that second half last time that they barely made a peep ,we need this but no fucking around this time ,put it to bed early and don’t give them one tiny bit of hope of salvation late on .

This club is a mess. They don't back their manager, they don't back their players. They're shocked by some of their recent games, in a bad way. The players are low on confidence (and ability).

Let's put them to the sword and take 3 big ones.

1. Don’t start slowly like the FA cup game. Need to be bang up for it.

2. Watch the long balls to Rashford/Garnacho. That will be their game plan - fullbacks need to be on it.

3. We will have plenty of shots most likely, stick the ball in the net and don’t give them encouragement.

4. No fannying about if we are ahead and have plenty of possession, kill the game off.
